This morning I was up early festooning her old stroller with the bunting I made for her trike when she was 2.

We got to the park about 9:00.

4th_July_2012_2

Took a couple of kittehs along in case other families wanted kittehs too.

I think those 2 are both placed!

4th_July_2012_3

At 10:00 we paraders were ready to take flight down the street.

4th_July_2012_4

And we did!

Had a little problem with kitteh containment at first, but soon they settled down for the 10-minute ride.

Refreshments were yummy.

4th_July_2012_6

Greased watermelons were vied for by wrestlers.

Kelly did her best to hold her own in her age division, but a brawnier girl landed that melon to shore.

Now I’m home with her dad watching tv and she’s out with friends behind a boat on that thing.

She’ll get to watch the fireworks at the 360 Bridge tonight with said friends on said boat, here…

fireworks_from_360_bridge

I’m happy for her.

And happy I’ll be spending a quiet evening in with her dad, ahhhhhhhhh.

Happy 4th y’all!!!  Is it great to be free, or what!!????!!!

Dearest Lynn, well it was a struggle during a couple parade spots to keep them still. I actually put one for a while in the white canvas shopping bad I’d hung from the stroller back. They sure did love being in laps, tho as we hung out with all the rest of the folks by the river. They are so sweet — kids and kittens, as you say!

Brian, it was actually my very first time witnessing the greased watermelon event. Pretty fun indeed! I didn’t have my swim suit on or I might’ve competed in the woman’s round. Your 4th sounds AMAZING!! And fireworks tonight for you guys maybe?

Ayala, my Dearest. Yes, so free. So lucky. Do we realize how lucky we are? We can come and go pretty-much as we please in this society. And do all kinds of fun things. I like being free!! I just heard from the little one from her phone about 30 mins ago. She’s having a ball on the boat. Can’t wait to see the pix she’s taking.

Daisy, my Dearest, I did my Momly duty for a good 5 hours at the park earlier! And someone else gets to take The Kid for fireworks, sweet. Actually I bought a few Roman candles and sparklers we’ll set off this weekend — the 4th, and The Force will be with us. :) Oh, but hey — it still IS the 4th, my dear so your comment is not late at all. I can hear lots of fireworks going off as I type this.

SNAGGLE DEAREST, I could’ve eaten watermelon but I felt too lazy at the time to walk all the way over to the table in the heat. :) I did buy a hot dog and a bottled water. Ah, closed errand stores — I’m guessing the P.O. might be one of them? Rypos — cool. I’ll pop on over later when I’m ready for a laugh.

HANK DEAREST, thanks. The colors are even more vibrant on these pix today than when I posted this, I think. :) I like the folks in the background on the first one. Reminds me of Seurat’s “…Grand Jatte” in red, white and blue. :) Do you guys have a national yearly celebratory day with special colors too?

    Now…

    I believe I will schedule 5 more eBay auctions…

And maybe even get back to clearing out Kelly’s room later which I’ve been picking away at for a couple weeks now. Next stepL: plastic bags to throw clothes in for now, then sort them later, like in next week or in 5 years. :)

And pick out pretty stationery for 7 letters to 4 cousins, 1 sister, and 2 aunts.

xoxoxooxoxoxo to all in the Universe.

Amazing how time seems to fly. You feel you get younger as she grows, right?! You certainly share inner sparkle and a zest for life. Life experience reveals that freedom is a feeling, a state of being, that is always accessible, regardless of age, regardless of a particular short-lived celebration. You can enjoy Independence Day and also feel free every day. Love who you are wherever yo uare and know life is always going well.

    Jannie Ma’am,
We do have! It’s Aug 31st! It’s actually Independence Day just like your 4th. We gained independence without a shed of blood – all through negotiations with the British. It happened in 1957 and we’ve been celebrating it ever since.

It looks like Kelly and her friends have fertile (or should I say “O’Rageous”) imaginations, seeing as how they are able to enjoy being on a beached raft. Lovely fireworks picture — looking at the action taking place over yonder hill, it looks like there were festive explosions like every five blocks in your area.

I loved the pictures and catching up with your life. You’re one of the busiest people I know…always on the go:~) It’s looks like you had a really nice July 4th and I’m pleased about that. The picture of the fireworks is so cool. It looks like a lighted fountain:~)

It amazing to see how much Kelly has grown!! Stay cool. The heat is something else right now…at least where I’m at. Stepping outside is like being in the sauna for too long!

Next week I hope to have enough money for watermelon after all my July OT hours. 6 Days per week 10 hrs per day is killing me! Luckily busy with tourists July is only once per year… or I’d have to give up these Bloggy things.
Finally on the fast puter for first time in months, btw.
    Hope you’re doing well-

Hi Dear Colleen, I liked peeking at your 4th too. Floyd seems as magical as any place one could ever imagine. Walking down your streets would be a constant adventure, especially in autumn I think. Autumn dreaming here today. :)

Hi Dear Liara — I DO, I DO feel younger with each moment, as I evolve I know more and more that it’s always only the beginning. Life IS always going well, indeed! Neither tomorrow, nor yesterday — this moment is timeless and unfolding.

Hi Dear Hank — I see your native nation beat my native nation by exactly 10 years at giving the Brits the olde heave-ho. :) What is it in Canada? Dominion Day, whenset we had finally dominion over our own souls. Actually it was final in 1982 with the repatriation of the constitution and all that jazz — but why rush into things??! :) And in Nova Scotia it’s the first of August, Natal Day — always a great day to celebrate with fireworks.

Hi Dear Christopher R. Edgar. Yes, over yonder hill you do so observantly point out is actually THE big downtown Austin celebration. One year, the year it actually rained all summer in Austin — yes AUSTIN! That was the year I’d bookded a fancy hotel downtown Jim K and I were to stay in, and not bother about traffic before and after the fireworks. Luckily the hotel let us out of the deal that got rained out, no cancellation fee as I so jubilantly recall. What year WAS that. 2006 I think. Maybe 2005. Or another similar year. Or decade on this fair planet, the best planet I’ve been on thus far.

Hi Dear Dr. J. who has been to amazing places such as Micanopy, and probably Minsk and Michigan too. Speaking of the latter, the ads for Michigan sure give me a hankering for all the beauty there. And I’ve like 10 blogging buds up there. Hope to one day make my way up there. And to Micanopy too — very interesting name. My canopy and your canopy, let’s all have canopies! Or at the least, the famous “SunSetter” that Florida probably has millions of.

And Jannie is about to fall asleep again.

Just need to check eBay for that 60 gallons of packing peanuts. See if I can’t snipe me a last-second bid for less than $20.00 for that little treasure trove, including shipping.

See all the rest of y’all soon.

    xoxoxoxoxoxo whoooohooo.

G-Man, how are YOU?? My distinct honor and pleasure to see you pop in, you ass-kicker you!! You’ve been on my mind often in passing when I see Harleys, red-ish paper coffee cups and smiles on the faces of babies. Please know that you are FAR from the only blogger Jannie has not popped in on lately. Always with our friends tho, in our hearts.

Dearest Sara, Mom used to say that about me too — always on the go. I think that what happens with me is I pack a lot into a short time, then sit on my computer butt and blog about some of it. :) No but really, once focused I totally kick major butt at whatever I want to get done. :) Perchance to drift in a dream through all of it. Anyhoo, yes, I’ve never seen any Austin fireworks from a boat. Or any other fireworks either, not that I remember anyway. I did watch some spectaclar ones on a dock in Vancouver, as I recall. Yep, The Pea is growing. And soon I’ll be shrinking. :) :) but maybe not if I eat right, exercise and sleep on a Shirley MacLaine incline plane. :) :) :)

Dearest Linda-Bo-Binda, yeah so glad your heatwave has receded into the iceage that’s advancing. Apparently they do ever 20,000 years or so. What I remember from a documentary I saw maybe 10 years or so ago. Wonder if they still think that? Which reminds me how Central Park in NYNY’s rock formations were formed by glaciers. Our house A/C is out. It does this every summer for like 2 days, to keep up humble. I didn’t sleep in the treehouse last night tho as I did last year. I put fans on me. Actually, we’ve had a lot of RAIN!!!! So, it has not been as hot as usual, whooooohooooo.

Dearest Snaggle, how AWESOME to see you back here again!!! Songwriting has picked up a little lately, yes indeed. Progress on some lyrics for “Breath Of Heaven’s Violins.” In the alley behind the pool hall where I park my car there’s a lady who sits by the dumpster strumming her guitar. She looks like an angel, dressed in smoke and lace. She looks like…” Rhyming with grace, I imagine. I figure life is all a song anyway, and the ones I’ll go back in to record one day, and meantime sing at open mikes are always flowing in one way or another. Blogging? I have a couple posts in drafts, but want to do a new BB header — him doing eBay. Wow, I’ll keep it in mind not to come visit you in a July! Early October sounds nice. But yes, working a LOT, more eBay than the office work I was doing, they don’t need me there as much lately. Anyhoo, gott go pick yp The Kell from her church puppets rehearsal. Thy’re going to perform and do a workshop at another church on Saturday. Must remember a new memory card for the cam!

Ahhh, Hilary, scrolling down my site now I see you on this post too, whoooohoooo. How lucky am I!???!! VERY lucky, obviously!

Well, marketing may have fallen through on one kitten. Need to confirm with the mom. The child may have a different idea than her. :) In Kitteh news… we take Mieshka in tomorrow morning for her spaying. She won’t be a fan of the car ride on the way there, I imagine. A 30 minute trek. Hopefully she’ll be groggy and sleepy on the ride home at the end of the day. Kittens now almost 11 weeks old, wow. They can get spayed and neutered in just another 5 weeks or so. Luckily, there is a low-cost fee. I’m choosing that instead of the free one. With all my eBaying I can pay the good people!!

Lots of love to You too!!
