a.k.a. Evolution Of An eBay Corner.

So THAT’s Where Jannie’s Been.

60 gallons of 100% recyclable packing peanuts in that big black bag on the desk!!

Sometimes I get little eBay corner visitors.

With all my selling lately and all I plan to do…

I sure appreciate the packing and shipping help!

Let’s go back in time now, shall we…

to when I had less shelves,

2 weekends of yard sale treasures ahead of me, and a blue guitar still only dreaming of its Big Adventure…

Now, back even further, to my eBay corner turning point…

Shelves!!Β  Repurposed from another room.

I’d come a looooooong way from my humble beginnings at a desk Kelly no longer used.

Thank you, Kelly!

And thank you, Jim — for all that woodwork fashioned by your own two handsΒ  from c. 1996 to 2000.

(Where that archway is… was once a wall!)

Thank you, thoughtful lady for the surprise gift of Mumford the Penguin (top photo) we’ll always cherish.

And thank you, Universe for giving me eBay and all the beautiful people who buy FUN stuff.

Anyhoo — enough BLOGging about it, and more actually WORKing at it…

To photos, descriptions and weighing packages I go!

And a photo edited-in at 10:18 A.M. TEXAS (& Tulsa?) :) time Tuesday, July 24th, 2012….

Took this at the P.O. yesterday!! :) Those 11 packages were MINE, whooooohoooo.

Sooooooo proud of me!!

Hey, Dearest Ayala!! To be quite frank, I am a Born Organized Person for things I care about. It IS nice to have all my supplies close at hand, in places I can find them. Next step, a working printer. I’d just bought new ink for the one in the photos, only to have it balk at taking paper. It’s so AWESOME to be able to print the shipping labels and have the P.O. angels pick up packages from my house if I want. And guess what?? eBay is FUN!!!!!!

Hey, Dearest Jen!!! And I bet you’ve shopped in some AMAZING places around the globe. Shoes in Italy? Finest silk in China? The best hats London has to offer?! I’ll email you my ebay handle and you will be thrilled and astounded by the funstering fare on offer at my humble store. yes, I just upgraded to a STORE, whooohooo. Still have to do all the graphics and such, but I’ll get there. And you know what I LOVE (Besides all you blogging beauties, that is?) There is a never-ending stream of cool stuff to sell, whoooooooooooooohooooooooooo.

Hey, Dearest Lynn — well that is Kelly’s closet door — that periwinkle thing. When it was at its highest height a few weeks ago it actually did keep the kittens out, and off the carpet when they were still learning to go potty in what I lovingly refer to as “The Poo-Poo Box.” But it didn’t last for long. Primo jumped it first, and the others followed suit. Now, I keep it up as a dog barrier in case 1 of the 2 decides they are too lazy to use the pet door. Yeah, eBay has been so good to me in this recent financial crunch time for our family. Oh, and yes, they are VERY fun kittens. And loved, one and all.

    And life is goooooooooooooooooooood!!

I was thinking for a long time that it was that point in our relationship when you would show me the eBay corner, but I didn’t want to force the issue — I was like Marvin Gaye, I didn’t want to push — so I’m glad you took the initiative. But seriously, I love your piano with all the bumper stickers, and I hope you’re not selling it. If you are selling it, I hope you don’t have to find some way to get all the stickers off!

Dearest Brian Of The Millerment… Yep, I like that I’ve got lots of packing stuff and shipping boxes — great to recycle ones when possible — makes things more efficient. And why do I suddenly have a hankering to order 120 gals of peanuts!!?? Addicted to shipping supplies in Austin!! :) But really, the more you buy, the less it costs. And I AM going to be selling and shipping, so….. might as well economize.

Dearest Chris Of The Edgarment… It’s funny I even took the pix in the first place. I believe I must’ve taken the earliest one just before I had the shelf brainwave — knowing I’d have a good before-and-after. As my selling area expanded I got prouder and prouder of myself! Then of course… the timing of the revelation — the stars lined up just right and so it was decreed YOU would be privy to this corner (literally) of The Funsterment Realm!! Nope, no plans to sell the piano. It’s so freaking HEAVY — took 3 guys to get it in the house and to that spot. Kelly is no longer taking lessons, but we’ll keep it. She had it donated to her. I wonder if you saw the post from when we acquired it last year, that must’ve been June 2011. I can’t even pull the post up now. I wonder if BB has been messing with my Search button again. :) :) :)

SAND — you little, devil! Who ARE you!?? Best spam I’ve had in months — thanks!!

Dearest J.D. Of The Meierment… Just call me Madonna in the 80s and 90s for my honed re-creation skills!! :) Yes, I do believe great things are in “store” indeed for me. I’ll probably end up Jannie 5th Avenue with my eventual Global Emporium Of Funsterment. :) I tell ya, tho — it’s amazing what one can do when one dives in and gives it a whirl, then continues to do what works and stick at it. As YOU well know from you making your own way in life, and successfully so!

Dearest Liara, sharing glimpses is what it’s all about, eh! We build each other up by showing the fun moments. Enriching others enriches ourselves exponentially. And the kittens are such hams for the camera! :)

Dearest Snaggle, I do believe eBaying is one of my (many) true callings! :) It IS fun!!!!! Making lots of new friends, giving people what they want at pricing they are willing to pay. And getting a few bucks for it!! A lot of my eBay time is spent on computer of course, so I appreciate the part where I get moving physically in my little corner. (Must remember to do my buttock tucks as I lift my parcels and carry them.) Yep, my little helpers get paid in tuna. AND salmon when they work time-and-a-half. :)

HEATHER!!!!!!! You are MOVING, oy!!!!! I’ve not moved in 22 years and I can’t imagine doing so. Bigger place? Smaller place? Better location? I LOVE MY EBAY CORNER!!!!! I have this organizing gene in me, I guess! And ever since I was a wee child I’ve had a fascination with sending and receiving parcels. Good luck, and peaceful vibes on your move!!!

Hey G.B. ! Well, they say the necessity is the mother of invention and such, but I’ve never truly realized just what that means until recently with the sharp decline in our family’s income. To hear that Kelly would have to sit on the sidelines for gymnastics competition because I couldn’t pay the fees was something I was NOT about to let happen!! It’s interesting how where there’s a will, and a good attitude, there’s a way! Of course, the “Real” hobby I want to make $$$ is selling my songs — but for now the recording and such is on hold. No prob! I’ll get back to it when we’re more back on our feet! Meantime, it’s all good, and pretty darn fun along the way.

    Happy Sunday, y’all.

Hey Alice Of The Audreyment, yes, I’m actually going to get a D.B.A. in the next couple weeks, for my taxes and such. Looks like Jannie is in biz! :) I actually bought those 6 little white shelves (now 3 rows of 2 each,) when Kelly was a toddler. I think they were $15.00 at Target. Assembled ’em myself, as I did my eBay desk which was one I had Jim cut the legs shorter on for Kelly.

The little white shelves held her toys and books nicely for years.

Now, she’ll get the nice built-in Jim managed to save from our car building before the bank foreclosed on it a couple / few months back. He’d made it himself! That will be GORGEOUS on Kelly’s wall, when I finally get her room done!!

    Shelves are good indeed!!

And nice you have a store of things yourself. Things come, things go. I like then they go!! :)

I bet your shelves are lovely. Any pix in any posts of them?

Hey Dearest Daisy of the Sweeping Plains With Foothills To Heaven… Next thing — a pronter, AND a printer!! :) :) That works. Think I’ll check Discount Electronics. But I need at least a 1-year warranty on all parts and labor shouldst my precious printer ever break. I’d just bought new ink for the one in the photo(s)? above but it is spurning my paper’s advances. Oh well, all for the better anyway. I was able to print the shipping labels out at the local library. Yes, eBay CAN be as involved as you want it to be. I do like that the more you sell, in a “Store” the less percent you have to pay in fees and such. I want to keep the business only as involved as I have time and will to handle it. So far, so good! :) I shipped like, 12 packages yesterday! Fun to do like things in batches to offer your buyers combined shipping and SO much more funsterment for their buck! :)

It IS lovely to have pretty and precious things in the case they were made for — a sense of completeness. And a 2nd pen to boot, excellent! Now… this makes me wonder where the expression “to boot” came from. Do you know?? :)

Now if y’all darlin’s will ‘scuse me, I have to take some photos of a pair of Event 20 / 20 BAS like-new studio monitors….. And those puppies are HEAVY to schlepp, but Jannie is STRONG!!! :)

Sara (Bo-Lovely-Bara) The only kinds of friends I WANT are the nosey kind!!!! The ones who want to get to know me better. And I they better! ESPECIALLY the nice, fun, interesting, artsy ones like you. YESSSSSS — eBay is freaking fun. You get to do up nice pictures, write a sometimes poetic and usually fun description. You can even have colored and bolded fonts in your description and such!! :) I see a lot of my maternal grandmother coming out in me. She loved saving boxes for her selling purposes. And she recycled foil pie-plates for her Saturday morning trip to The Farmer’s Market. She’d be up at 5:00 baking pies when she was still in her 80s. Like 24 that morning! Anyway, yes eBay is very enjoyable. And I’m at 73 stars now!!!!!!! Yes, and where that “snowman” penguin Mumford is was actually once a doorway into our old master bedroom’s toilette area.

Shay!! If you really want Mumford I’ll ask Kelly and Patricia if they are fine with gifting him onwards. He was Patricia’s daughter’s childhood buddy. She collected penguins. Have SHIPPING SUPPLIES, can send him a-travel. :) Oh yeah, I finally got the Craigslist ad for Mooshoo & Clue up last evening. My July 4th marketing fell through. I waited too long to get the mom spayed and lo….. I love them all 4 tho, but hopefully there is a loving home to take them both. Cats are so freaking useful! Karma ate a fly today! :) Anyhoo, Mieshka, the mom, is now spayed. So… if we end up keeping all 4 kittens, we’ll have SIX cats. 2 dogs and 2 parakeets. Not quite hoarders, (I hope?) :)but this is IT for pets. Anyway, it’ll all work out, and as I wrote in a letter to my sister the other day… “whatever happens, there’ll be more than enough love to go ’round.” And you know what, in Kelly’s gymnastics class there are 4 sisters — quadruplets! So… if that family can do it with KIDS, I can certainly foot the feed bill for the felines. And now of course, with all my eBay loot!!! :) :)

Hey, Exit Stage Righter, you! Now I’m inspired to edit in my Library Office iPhone pix for this too! No working printer here yet so I schlepped my lovely parcels to le biblioteque? la biblioteque? Geez, my French is rusty? So why then, and almost a few times a day do I say out loud… “excuse my French?” ??? :) :) Anyhoo, I printed out my labels at The Library. They’re used to me being weird there, anyway. :) Yeah, you can set it up so the customer pays shipping. Or offer free shipping. It helps the buyer decide how how high to bid, because they know how much the shipping will cost. SO EXCITED!!!!!!! My 15 poly mailing bags in 3 sizes of 5 each arrived yesterday! The biggest at 24″ x 24″ are freaking PERFECT for the 2 gorgeous gently-used water ski jackets I have going up tonight. The bags are really TOUGH! I hope if Shay wants Mumford the 24″ x 24″ will work. So much lighter than a box for shipping. And the bags can be recycled on the other end. And hey, guess what? I can get 50 rolls of clear packing tape for only $36.00 landed!! That’s a little down the road for me with all my other bills, but I’ll get there! Jim did buy 2 rolls for $5.00, so that wasn’t too bad — good quality stuff. None of that flimspy crap tape for MOI!! :) Oh, and yes, I guess I could’ve been good at gymnastics, had I been able to take lessons. She had a very rough day 2 weeks ago on beam, got nervous and “messed up” as she said when her coach was scoring them for the first time on 10. Coach told her it was too low to even count. And she CRIED, And cried. And wailed. And cried. But… she bounced back great, and a few days ago pronounced beam her favorite equipment! And she’s soooooooo happy with her improvement on the bars and vault, especially vault. I just driver here there and back. She does all the work. She is freaking AMAZING, as daughters are you know from your own. God gives them all they come with and we are along for the ride. :) :) Yes, I am sure she does appreciate my fee paying, and one day when she is big and famous from the Olympics and all those endorsements that will keep her dear olde mama in fine style…… :) :) she’ll say she owes it all to her dad and me.

RAVENBLACK!! Now is that AWSEOME Jannie. Or Awesome, Jannie? Okay. :) :) yes, it is awesome that I can bring in some MUCH needed funds. From home. When I am inspired to work on it. I was very inspired yesterday! BB “taked mutch fotos.” he really is a great help that blue bunny! Him and the kittens. :) :) Thank you for popping in. I know I’ve been so absent from the blogs, but I do think of you ALL!
