Fourth On Beam, People — Fourth On Beam!!

I commend that young lady in red, who only weeks ago cried her little heart out after a disappointing balance beam day.
But following utter devastation she got back on the beam, worked harder and…
this past Saturday won 4th at her first-ever gymnastics meet!!!
Ironically, I didn’t catch Miss Athlete #314’s beam score, but see her floor, vault and bars below…
And during the 2-hour drive home she said… “Thanks, Mom for taking me all the way there, and for paying for my gymnastics, and everything.”
You’re welcome, Baby. You’re so welcome.
She was only 10 then.
And today ELEVEN!!!!!
Love, Mom

LYNN! I love that suit!!! Wish I were her size, I’d for sure sport around in that. And it’s a true “Summer” red, my red. She was SO excited to be up on that podium, her favorite moment, she said.
BRIAN!! Yeah, after how devastated she was just a few weeks ago over beam til now, just goes to show what we can accomplish when we keep going with something we really like to do, even tho it does get challenging. Oh, I’m really just her chauffeur.
She does all the work!
DAISY!! She really did work hard at it. I was amazed when I got to view her in-house at her mock meet about 3 weeks ago — it dawned on me then just how much work she and her team-mates HAD put in. Amazing! She also placed 10th on floor and 13th overall, out of about maybe 25 in her division. And… it was a really FUN day!!

4th out of 25 is great! A difficult apparatus, n sounds like Kelly learned from her past error. It was super of you, Kelly’s Mom, to drive her all that way n support her by selling on E-bay.

Congradulations to Kelly, small in stature and super large at heart.Isee three medals around her neck? She did her best and to acclomplish the results she had in the first competition is super. Wish I could have been there taking pics of the very proud Mom as well. Happy belated birthday to you Kelly and never give up the hard work unless you are relaxing with a mob of purring felines.

CHRIS!! I am indeed beaming at my beaming beam gal. Was so amazed at her poise. Am so happy for her. And I LOVE that red suit, really eye-popping, indeed. I bet we can get one in YOUR size, if you wish.
Hey, Hilary!! 2 hours was not far away at all, we especially enjoyed the trip back, all happy about her fine showing. Yes, they really are in pre-Olympic form, excellently standarized USA team training and events — the way it should be. And the judging was tough — glad to see that. Nothing wishy-washy about her training as it should be. whooohoooo. Happy Cheery week to YOU too!! I probably won’t be posting again until Poetry Tuesday, have lots of work to do in The Real World to ensure that little star keeps her training up.
Hey, Snaggle, well what happened to her on that “bad day” was nerves when she learned they were to be given scores that day. She got all shaky and fell — got a very low score and was devastated. So glad it did not deter her. She got back on that horse! And good for her to know even the top gymnasts can have “off” days. Glad her first meet was so positive. Yes, selling on eBay, and VERY worth it so she can have this chance. And she LOVES gymnastics!!! She beams all the way at her wonderful facility filled with awesome people.
Ahhhhhh, Dear Leslie, thanks for offering me that award, sorry I’m a bit late in getting to my own blog — birthday celebrations yesterday, and my head in eBay selling all day, getting some auctions ready. THANK YOU for nominating ME. And seeing you here again reminds me how much I love you, you Beautiful Soul, you!! And yes, I’ll be sure to tell her to slow down the growing.
She’s still real petite for her age, tho — great for a gymnast.
Hey, GDK3!!! She reminded me she actually had 4 medals in that pic, one was hidden behind the others. They were for beam, floor, overall, and…. I think vault over bars, but I’m not really sure on that one. Wish you could’ve been there too!! But wait until I get my hair all nice, okay?? I have to be super-photographable.
That mob of purring felines misses her when she’s at school. They like to hang out on her bed then. AWESOME you were here again.
now…. on to Something Else, equally fun as chatting with all you sweeties.

Hi Friends.
Please forgive me for being elsewhere these past few days, I’ve been working away at eBay for 12 – 14 hours a day all week.
Dearest G.B. Miller — it was quite exciting indeed. I LOVE the meet atmosphere. Thank you very much for ALL your kind sentiments.
Dearest Linda, the birthday plans actually changed, as the van I was to borrow from a friend to take all the girls out broke down the day of the party. But we had a blast at the Lake, and here at home. Got to set off the fireworks it was too dry for on July 4th. I can take a total of 5 (including me) in my small Honda… so donut watching will happen with a smaller group soon enough.
Dearest Liara, I was so proud of each athlete there. They obviously had put in so much dedicated practice, it was amazing to see. The children are all such wonders to behold!!
Dearest Hilary. Survived the sleep-over birthday party very well!! Always a big event. And she said it was even better than her 6th birthday blow-out, also held here at the house. Thanks for all. oxoxoxoxox
Lance, you little Sweetie, Dearest. You know about kids and sports — nothing better than watching all that hard work pay off in their self-esteem and development. AWESOME to see you!!!

Nice to hear from the proud mom!!
I’m glad that they are trying to combine competition with rewarding as many kids as they can with sports.
I was a decent swimmer on a great team. I was glad I was kept on the team. IN basketball that didn’t happen and I was very disappointed.

Dr. J. I never even tried out for a team. We lived in the sticks, too far to be chauffeured to town for practice. Would’ve love to have taken gymnastics, but again… lived in the sticks. TG the sticks have made for some nice nature-y woods, field and ocean memories. Oh, and cow-milking, we cannot forget that — life on The Funsterment Farm did have its childhood perks.
When I was a big All-grown-up girl I found Jazzercise. Then nice places to walk. And now look at me — sucking in my abs whilst eBay-ing. Actually, I was not sucking in my abs while I typed that. But I am now!
It rocks!!!! Gymnastics, that is. The Child is now a USA Gymnastics card-carrying member. And they mailed us a bumper sticker too!!!

Hey, Rose, what brings you back this way? Did something trigger a memory of this site, or have you actually been reading each and every word I’ve written here since I saw you last??
Yep, growing up. And it always amazes me how doing her hair up really changes her look. She’s lucky that she looks great in any hairstyle. And I noticed yours on your site is very short.
Hey, Alice Audrey — she sure did, and thanks for saying so. her next meet is this coming Sunday, and not early in the day so we can both SLEEP IN this whole weekend. Sleep is good.
