Just Good Stuff, Photography, The Parakeets | Posted by Jannie on 9 November 2012 @ 3:17 PM 41 Comments

Guys, I hope your weekend is really really superly awesome-great.

Kelly and I are off to Houston very early Saturday to a gymnastics meet. If she does well enough there she will go on to State finals in Dallas next month. It’s all quite exciting. And fun! [Edit on Sunday morning... they took the top 10 girls for State -- and Kelly came in 11th. She is First Alternate, tho. If one of the girls cannot compete for whatever reason, Kelly will take her place.

At any rate, she's has an AWESOME first season!!  A newbie who did very very well.]

See you later! I’m off to eBay land now.

    Jannie Ma’am,
I really enjoy these pics. There’s so much passion and compassion. Passion in getting the right moments especially in the ‘two dancing/two watching’ episode. Compassion in having dedicated ‘partners in trade’ as in all that your ‘cute babies’ appeared. They are so photogenic and so confident. The beauty of attraction of these postings are largely of their dainty little presence and cuteness. Not forgetting your talent in capturing those special moments. Lastly, sincere apologies in not visiting lately. I aim to correct this forthwith as I’m missing all the fun of your wonderful takes. Thanks for sharing! Great!

MY HANK! Your wonderful comment is a true delight to read. The 2 watching, 2 dancing I was happy to catch, and glad the cats hadn’t run away by the time I got back with the camera. And that the birds were still dancing. Some moments are so cute you just have to catch them. YOU are doing very find with visiting my blog, it is I who has been absent out reading and commenting. Being a working mom has curtailed my blog time. And now I’m putting aside daily time for practicing my songs, I may continue to be scarce a while. But you know you are awesome and I think of you often!!

Okay BRIAN — let’s write poems called Moon Piano Girl. Does she play her tunes on the moon? Is her name Moon? Is the piano made of moon dust? The sky’s the limit! Wonderful meet, yes. She came in 11th overall. And the first 10 go to State. She is First Alternate, so will compete if one of the 10 is unable to.

SNAGGLE, what happened to your NEW computer, I thought you got a good-used new one that was faster? Hope you got your sleep!!!

Hey HILS! I edited in how Kelly got 11th. And only the top 10 go through to the next round. But she is First Alternate and may get a shot at it yet. At any rate, she’s had an awesome First Season. We’re so so so happy for how well she’s done and how much she’s learned. Yes, the eBay, my job these days. But it’s great to work from home. Tell Hardwick to keep at it. And I bet he’s great at holding poses a long long time. :)

Thanks, DAISY, yes the meets are a lot of fun! She did awesome, came in 11th as I mention to other folks. But only 10 move on to State. Still, she’s happy and did AWESOMELY this first season!! I am hoping she will remain in Level 5 next season too, to refine her chops and get her basics stronger. Thanks for popping in, my faithful blogging friend!!

    JANNIE!! whooooooooooohhooooooooooooooo.

Hey Lynn, the 3 new medals in our house she earned fair and square. Placed in a couple events and the 3rd for 11th overall. At this meet she got her best vault ever — scoring a 9.2 on that. And she could hardly even vault at all when she started team in January! She’s done AWESOME indeed. And her dad is on his way Right Now to pick her up from gym, as her training continues. So happy she likes it! And she may get to compete in Dallas next month. Maybe one of the winning 10 will be whisked off on a surprise Walt Disney World trip. One never knows. :) And if not this year, I bet she will get the State experience, I mean WE will get the State experience next year. :)

Hi G.M.!! Lately Kelly’s been either finishing her homework in class, or forgetting to do it entirely, like yesterday. :) Oh well, that happens. Oh, those dining room photos of her up there with the headphones shows the creative endeavor she took upon herself — a personal gymnastics routine. So cute. When they get to the higher levels, The Optionals they do get design their own routines. She’ll be good at that, as she’s always been so creative with dance moves. But yes, sometimes she does her homework when the t.v.s blaring, when Jim and I are watching, but she gets too distracted by the show, gets pulled into the entertainment, just as we do.

Anyhoo… I have an Agent Dana Scully doll with a guerney and what looks like a dead body to list on eBay, (I know — cheery, eh?) so I best get back to it. But first maybe a piece of cheese to go with my wine.

Oh and yes, G. I think First Alternate is a fine finish indeed. And what was the best, was her improvement on the apparati, and her stick-to-it-ive-ness, and knowing how to do gymnastics stuff better now.

    yeah, that’s it.

    what about that cheddar…

What kind of job does The Boy have? Okay, since you asked… here was the Dude a few weeks ago. He’s got the jeans on now!! And arms. Needs a smaller belt tho. (I had some belts a while ago, nice Sauvignon Blanc.) The Lovely Lady mannequin shalst I pick up next week from Kalyani. Shalst — is that a new word?? :)

The Boy works as McDonald’s. Hey, at least it’s a job. He says he’s going to start looking for a higher paying one in a couple of weeks when he’s done with school.

I’m pretty sure shalst is an old word. A really old one. But when I went to the dictionary to get the right spelling, all they had was shalt.

Happy Weekend, whoooohooooo. Actually got to Sleep IN this morning. Heaven!!

ALICE AUDREY — his arms are quite lovely even tho they do fall off sometimes, and his hands even moreso. Hey, — I’ll include a photo here of him the other day. He does have some hair, painted-on tho. I suppose I could’ve put a shirt under his jacket for the eBay ad. I guess next time I will. Yes, I think most schools start Middle at 6th, some at 7th, tho. Hey, McD’s is gainful employ, teaches showing up and all that good stuff. Got my Lady mannequin. She’s still in the car, been out there all night. She’s probably okay, tho. :)

JOEY!! And now you can see the front of the MANnequin dude. Maybe that will calm down your mind for your next comment. Yes, the cats were quite cooperative for this round. So cute. And fluffy. And getting chubby — only 7 months old and already as big as their mother. My fave is the brotherly love one.

LINDA!! Yes, Karma Kat, snuggled at Kelly’s shoulder, is in ALL the cat pix here, except for the “Cage Cleaning” shot — that’s Clue eying my birdies. Karma generally comes out of his sleep lair only in the evening to get right up in our faces and bug us with his snuggling. Funny how all 6 (yes, still SIX of our felines have their own personalities,) as you well know being a Cat Person. Yes, she did so great at gym this season. And now she’s writing a novel — I did thee not. She’s so talented.

RAVEN! I hope you are well. I so know what you mean these days about work having a lot going on. (as per your response to my last comment over at your place.) I’ve been working a lot more than blogging these days, but such is life. Yes, that’s Karma cat who is such a snuggler. Thank you for popping in. My weekend is starting out nice a relaxedly, with no where to be, yay! I love being home. And hope all’s well with you.

    Jannie said,

Well, dearest Alice Audrey, since you didst ask about Her Ladyship… below is my first foray into dressing and photographing her. Very happy with the results! These appear in the actual order I took them today…

The glasses, black skirt and purple shirt are actually mine. She has a really snazzy purse draped over her straight arm now. Oh — speaking of arms, the Dude is actually quite broad of chest and heavy. And he is 6′2″ tall. Takes a lot to manouevre (or in my case janoeovre, haha) him into position. His arms often go akimbo dressing him, especially when a shirt is on the small side for him. But I make it work. It’s a bit of a dance. Easier to dance with her, she’s much lighter, TG. Anyhoo… I’m lucky to have such fine dummies to display my wares, and for having you pop in here. Thanks!

Yeah, that’s a pretty cool jacket — Versace. Not my color or style, but I can appreciate the fine quality and workmanship. I photographed 3 more coats today on her. All with blonde wig — yes, cuter on her than the red.

Just had my coffee and pumpkin pie lunch (horrible, I know!) :) and am now procrastinating on photos for 5 more auctions. :) Let that pumpkin pie settle, says I. :) Luckily The Hubby will be picking up The Child later so I can have this good long stretch of uninterrupted gainful employ today.

I did play guitar and practice some on a new song today…. so not all work and no play here. Actually work can be play, if you let it be! Hope you are lost in happy creative writing today!!

Snaggle, to better showcase my eBay wares, I have borrowed a couple mannequins from my friend, Kalyani. Dude is a very tall, very skinny-waisted guy, and Jim’s belt was too big for him. I thought it made for a funny shot before I got one that fit better.

Colleen, Kelly has trained the cats to pose with some kind of tuna hynosis method, or another. :)

Chris… yes, she had just booted away 4 ninjas. they soared over 4 aisles into the magazine rack.

And here are 3 more of my Lady Mannequin to showcase her loveliness for Alice Audrey when she pops back in here. In one photo I had her wig too high, one too low and one akilter.

I need to do some product photography for my etsy store, but I’m having all kinds of problems with the focus on my camera. Gotta get the good camera fixed. It’s a hassle.

    Jannie said,

Alice Audrey, camera problems can be frustrating. I was thinking earlier today how lucky I am to have a decent one. I told you it’s on “Mountain Setting” for the (I think,) lighting, right? I DO know where my user manual is, tho! TG for the misplaced Canadian $20.00 bill. While searching for it I chanced happily upon the booklet. Probably can get the setting info online, anyway. Are you currently taking pix with a camera phone? Kelly showed me how the focus works on mine! iPhone, that is.

Oh, speaking of camera hassle… I finally bought some rechargeable AAs (2 sets of 4) and a new charger, whoohooo. on eBay. it’s in the mail. The charger for the cam conked out like, 2 days after the warranty expired.

She has a red Santa hat on now. I’m kind of off the clothes photos these days and onto other wares. I did get my D.B.A and apply for my Texas Sales & Use tax permit! whooohooooo — is there NO END to the extent of my ass-kicking-ness!!?? :)

I also opened my $1.00 pack of 20 Christmas cards. Today!

And moved the rolls of Christmas wrap into the new mailbox Kelly and I bought Jim for father’s day like, 3 or 4 years ago, but never got installed. But — Ill have Chris do the switch this weekend between it and the old box. And yes, OUR mailbox has indeedie-doo not had a front door on it for, yeah, at least 3 years. :) The one Chris takes off I’ll put the Christmas rolls in. Don’t need the door anyway for that!! A mailbox (will insert pix here sooner than later for you) of the box with rolls of wrap in it, for the visual.

That is AWESOME about your NaNo writing. You certainly stick at it. Combined with your natural talent, that’s an amazing combo.

what was I doing before I saw you popped in?

Oh yes, photos for blog posts, and such.

Congrats to Kelly…that’s very impressive as her picture holding her leg! OMG if I tried that…well, let’s not even go there.

I loved ALL the pictures, but my favorites were your piano and the picture “two dancing; two watching.” I imagine with that many cats, your birds must be immune to being stared at. I can’t imagine what Aggie would do, except she does more than watch. When a bird is near the screened porch, she frequently run into the screen trying to “be friends” with the bird (that’s the way I like to think about it:~)

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

hey, Sara-Bo-Bara… yes, it’s fun dressing the ‘kins. They are like blank canvases. I used to be able to do that leg thing too. But she’s got me what I could ever achieve with the splits. Mom could do the splits great — maybe she still can. Flexibility’s in The Fam, eh

Yes, the Piano pic. That was the day they could wear their Halloween costumes to school. As we were about out the door on to the bus stop that morning I asked her to go stand and pose by the piano. And of course she hops right up on it! Stood on it for a few hunched photos, later I caught her in that one. I do love it too. And love that her dad got her that little suit at a yard sale for $1.00!! Fits her like a glove. And is stored away in a closet with other of her special outfits for her kids one day!! I’ll have her son or daughter sit in that — maybe even atop that same piano. You never know how it’s gonna go. :)

I miss some great cat pix too. You know how quickly cats can move. Felt so lucky those 2 were actually still sitting there when I came back from getting my camera and that Timmy & Angel were still entertaining and taunting with highland fling. :)

Cats’ fascination with feathered friends is really cool to watch! The innate hunter springs forth. :)

Yes, and AWESOME Thanksgiving! And you? Here’s a pic I took. Kelly’s head is actually photoshopped from another pose where I had my eyes closed! I’m serious. Maybe a post for another day. :)
