A Peachy Passing Through

yesterday,
after 15 years
with us, Peachy
closed her eyes
and slipped on back
to heaven’s arms.
she was such
a sweet good
little dog and
we are grateful
she was able to
grace us on her
journey through
these stars.

I’m not sure
when I’ll feel like
answering comments,
but I do thank you
for your thoughts.
Love, Jannie

Oh Jannie, my heart is so sad for you. Our beloved animals are so much more, they are friends and family. It is so hard to say good-bye, but they really never leave us. They live on in our hearts and memories. My own Rosie is 15 1/2 and such a sweetheart. I treasure every day with him.
I’m sorry for your loss and the pain you and your family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My condolences for your Peachy. It’s especially tough when a loved animal passes away to the great field in the sky.

It’s just sad, Jannie! After 15 years almost the maximum lifetime for a dog. When Clyde, our Scottish Fold left us after 6 years, everyone cried. I’m sorry, Ma’am! I feel for everyone at home!

Oh Jo — it’s so good to see you. I’m gonna write my comment responses in reverse order today. Yes!! I was thinking and smiling just the other day about when we took the dogs to San Antonio and in the car Peachy accidently stepped on Chancie and he gave her a big growl. Remember??! You really laughed at that. And of course somewhere there are photos of us in front of The Alamo, well me anyway — wiht the dogs on their leashes. And some of Pascie with them too. Yes, .every body loved her indeed. You know what? SOmetimes my Postman comes down the walkway dressed as a unicorn, all rainbow-y and such. Thank you… xoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxxoox
She did, Lynn, she had such a sweet face and I always told her that. I’s take an ear in either hand and join them together (when her hair was growing long enough to do so,) under her chin and just sit and tell her how cute she was and how much I loved her. I’m sure you did the same for Sophie, but obviously not the floppy-ear thing.
Snaggle, funny you mention Sweety. The evening before you left your comment we took Sweety in the car because we knew he was lonely over Peachy — even with the SIX cat friends at home, and he PUKED all over, well not ALL over the backseat, but in a couple choice spots. Poor baby, he’s still not over his motion sickness, and I guess never will be. That’s why we take him to a vet just a couple miles away, so he won’t have to suffer much car sickness. Anyway, to top THAT off, actually BEFORE the vomiting incident, like FIVE minutes before that, I spilled tuna casserole all over my left leg in the car. I’d apparently put the wrong top on the plastic bowl I had Kelly’s dinner in, it went flying off the dash when I took a sharp corner. Oh boy. I sure had some cleaning to do when I got home! And I did, even in the dark. Yuck.
And Sweety was the one who lead me to Peachy. I didn’t see her under the table or in the usual spots she would lie during the day so I went into the back yard to see where she was. I didn’t see her, and she didn’t come to my call. So I asked Sweety if he’d seen Peachy and he walked me over to the pet door, where she lay motionless just outside the house. She’d been declining, as old dogs do, but to see her suddenly dead sure was a shock. Thank God Jim was home at the time to be with me, that helped. He dug a hole way in a far corner of the back yard and buried her. I added a pile of heavy limestones on top. Anyway, she’s up romping with Chancie now. And with Jim’s mom too I hope, how Ann LOVED our sweet little dogs.
Dear Joy and Rainbow Shining Hank ‘way way across the planet, it is sad, yes. But all part of life’s cycles and mysteries. You know the pain, with your Scotty. Such loving little funny beings. Thank you for your words.
It is G, it is. Tough. But I started feeling better yesterday. Took a bath, and washed my hair!!
Actually, writing this comment has made me cry some again. But I think we are all feeling better here. And Sweety the wonder doxie is enjoying a LOT of extra love these days.
Linda, yep they are family — they really are. We get to know the hearts and souls of them. They love us back and make us laugh. And when they go they make us cry, but that’s all part of this human deal. Wow, I didn’t know Rosie is that old, cool! She’ll be around for a good long while yet, of course. Still, it’s never easy when they go. There’s a hole that takes a while to fill. But I’m bouncing back a bit, for sure.
Thanks, Brian, I appreciate your words. And yes, cute pix for sure of Kelly a few years ago. We still have that little guitar, could never let it go. But… tha tBaby Taylor case is actually on its way as I write this — to Canada! We bought a cute little steel-string kid’s beginner guitar at a yardsale and I added a brand new Snark tuner to his package and mailed it last week! He’s real musical. he’s 6 now.
Dearest Hilary, yes, close to Christmas sucks. I actually already had her Christmas stocking hung, and its’ still there. And this year there are FOUR new pet stockings to buy and hang, gosh, with those kittens who surprised us with their entry on May 4th, and will stay on with us, seemingly forever, until they too pass, which will be more sadness each time, but that’s the way it goes, eh? I might just put up 4 of my own socks for them this year.
Yes, I’ve been feeling a lot better, starting yesterday. And now I guess I’m going to warm up this cup of coffee in the mic, then check my bank account and eBay, perchance to take some pix when it warms up outside. Texas is so funny in winter, cold nights, but warm days. Expected 25 C. here today for a high. Nice for the birds to hang outside in their shaded spot on these warm days. Too hot for me, tho!
I like 20 C! 70, of course for The Americans and that Fahrenheit scale.

Hey, Jeanie-Bo-Beanie, I cried a lot the first 3 days, then began to bounce back, knowing in my heart all the while that Peachy, as Liara says, is always close to my heart. We are all in this world, but not of it.
And now I think I’m going to photoshop the paper towel bits off the kitchen floor for my next post which is a funner one. THANKS for popping in, ye little nice lady!
