Super Kelly Beam Girl

Just Good Stuff, The Pea | Posted by Jannie on 4 March 2013 @ 11:59 AM 49 Comments

Considering Kelly’s been in Level 6 gymnastics for only 5 weeks, I’d say her 9.45 score for that routine in Dallas yesterday, earning her 2nd place for beam in her age group, is a darn fine achievement!

She also placed 2nd for her floor routine, with a 9.3.

She loves everything about gymnastics!

I do too! Of course, I’m just the chauffeur and check-writer, but the sport is wonderful and she has the best training you can imagine with really wonderful people!!

And due to their great scores yesterday, Kelly and her mates will advance to Level 7 in June!!

Now, beautiful and handsome friends….. I may not be posting here again for a month as another lady and I are sharing a business venture that needs a lot of time and attention. Might take only 2-3 weeks, tho. We’ll see how it goes.

I’ll be out to see you all at some point.

Have fun and laugh muchly every day, okay?! Life is beautiful.

Love, Jannie

DEAREST BRIAN!! I’m very surprised how quickly they have moved up lately. And already moving on to “Optionals.” They got what it takes, tho — why not challenge them, eh? :) Luckily, she really loves it. It actually WAS so amazing to watch her at this meet yes, as I’d not seen any of her “new moves” at all. In fact, not since her last meet, in January, had I witnessed any of the Level 6 add-ons. That back walk-over has impressed me forever!! And I like how as her skill and control develops her natural elegant poise shines through!

DEAREST DAISY!! Well, it’s a business venture that involves cleaning out a storage locker and selling its contents on Craigslist and eBay, and donating the rest to GoodWill. Wonderful exercise for me!! :) And for The Hubby and his friend as they help me lift the big stuff later today. As the girls advance at the gym, the worth-it tuition does increase. But God, the Universe and Action will always provide. :) Yeah, she did so well! She’d fallen on the full turn both times in warm-up, but she pulled it off. Just a couple wobbles — nice saves, tho! And 1/10 taken off for going 1 second past the second bell. Did you hear the bells? A ding, then a ding-ding.

HILARY, DEAREST MY LOVELY HILARY!! :) Let me post this, as my computer’s been very naughty lately and has been crashing…. hold on…

Okay, Hils, my computer complied and posted. Seems lately if I don’t “talk” to it for a while it gets cranky and wants attention.

Yes, my dear — and part of said business venture today involves continued attention to the big corner in this house I’m clearing out for a bed and a dresser. I’m finding bags of Kelly’s BABY CLOTHES in there!!! :) A few she wore a lot I’ve bagged and stored and the rest for donation. As I mentioned to Daisy above, it’s an eBay / Craigslist selling thing. A bit daunting but… load by load we are chipping away at it! :) Yes, and soon her training will move up to 25 hours weekly from her current 22. So, most likely no DS Pokemon games until the weekend. Bed time is 10:00, firm! She wakes at 7:15 on a school day, and half an hour earlier on many Saturdays. But — she LOVES it. Our gym owner gave these Super Texas Seven yesterday off gym. And they have today off every week, anyway. And she’s been all “Oh, I wish they HADN’T given us any days off, because I can’t wait to get back and… hold on…

    gonna publish…

TALON, pretty cool, huh? The difference between what she could do a year ago and now is mind-boggling. And as long as she’s down with gymnastics, so am I! I put on a good 8 hours today on the Venture. Feels good indeed. And keeping so physically active I can eat all I want!! :) Oh, and ahhhhhhhh on your last sentence — thanks!!

yes, Dear LYNNIE, a bit of driving to and fro, but as you say… totally worth it!! She can look back at what she’s achieved and always be proud of herself. It will be fun to share the next updates of her progress. Yes, that beaming pic of her is awesome. She’s not made it to 1st on the podium, but I’m sure she’ll have plenty of that experience too, with her cheerful winning “can-do” attitude.

Hey G.B.!! I am getting a nice blog break now after busting butt all day moving stuff. Feels good to work those lifting and organizing muscles! I know I’ve been an infrequent poster of late, but it won’t always be so. Working on my new songs too, trying to make time for my music and getting a good 1-hour show together. I’m actually getting there! By this summer I’ll have a nice solid show ready, whoooohoooooo.

COLLEEN!!! How awesome to see you!! So sweet of you to check in on the Funsterment crowd. I appreciate it! Soccer and wrestling, I bet that kept you hopping!! :) They will get to do a fair bit of out-of-state travel once they hit Level 7. That oughta be an adventure!! Looking forward to seeing Chicago.

SNAGGLE!!! Kelly was born doing gymnastics. :) Well, I exaggerate, of course, but she crawled up steps at 5 months, and never stopped climbing. :) Yes, you remember her 2 broken arm episodes since we’ve been blogging buddies. :) WOW, I Googled Jillian — awesome!!!!! She’s doing so great. Amazing what the mind can overcome after an injury. Thanks for sharing that. Well, my checking account is not too high at the moment, but God willing it will replenish soon!! :) :)

Wowzer!!! That video of her beam work was fantastic. I’ve always thought that was the hardest apparatus to do and she did a beautiful performance.

I loved the middle picture — all the little girls in their colors; some hugging, some with their hands in the air and some “beaming” with happiness, like your own:~)

It is both thrilling and scary to watch a child do sports. My eldest played tennis and my youngest was an equestrian. Regardless of which sport, my heart always in my throat! But both girls loved what they did and it was a thrill to watch them. Enjoy it and the time you spend with Kelly.

Hi Dear Sara Girl. Yep. A big wowzer for me too seeing her new stuff. To me it’s the hardest too. Tho bars can be a challenge, so much strength needed. Beam is Kelly’s fave, yay, next bars, then floor, then vault. I’m thinking of getting her a private lesson vault, if she wants. She says floor can be really exhausting. Tennis and horses require a lot of strength and stamina on the part of the athlete. Do either of your girls keep it up these days?

Jo, Jo my blossom that grows
    and beautifies the lane
    You are always sunshine
    that clears away the rain.
I love you in the morning
    And in the afternoon.
I love you by the sunset.
And by the light of every moon.
So glad to get your comment, as I was feeling a little sad about my ice cream spoon getting bent trying to scoop my coffee Haagen Dazs out a few minutes ago. Now my spoon is all bent up like the letter “S” but I shall donate it to the spoon museum I shall one day open on the other side of my donut shop. And I have lots more nice spoons, thankfully more sturdily made than the one that just crapped out. I am currently having some nice Yogi brand “Throat Comfort” tea. Each bag has a little zen-ism on the tag. This one reads….. “A Relaxed Mind Is A Creative Mind.” I like that! My teabag yesterday said. “Work, but remember to live.” So today I’ve done pretty-much nothing but live. (Tho, I did just do up eBay labels for 4 parcels to set out for Postie tomorrow. Mailed 3 today too.) The Pea is at a sleepover, which will be a back-to-back, as I am hosting the other girl tomorrow night. They better get some sleep tonight!! Luckily, I can sleep in tomorrow morning to be ready to face 2 potentially cranky girls in the morrow. :) This week is Spring Break and Kelly has a full 9 days off, counting the 2 weekends. She and I have been having a ball doing lots of fun local touristy things. Tomorrow will be Zilker Park, probably. And out own park which is great because, tho the lake is still pretty cold, the air temps are in the 80s. Nice for swimming and such. Well, my dear, Jannie is going to enjoy some more of her tea and then who knows what? Maybe some song lyrics, blog hopping or putting some new pics up on my “Other Stuff” page. Love to you my dear…….

Well, Dear Lovely Patricia, like an angel butterfly you alight here again. Yes, yes, yes, I remember that coffee shop post indeed — Kelly doing her acrobatics in the booth we were sitting in. Gosh, that must’be been 3 years ago now! She was still at her old school, Parkside. Oh goodness, that free-spirited child of ours. :) :) I’m so grateful she’s enjoying everything about her gymnastics experience. I just signed her up for a week long summer sleep-away camp at the gymnastics program at a university in another state. Looks like about 25 or so girls, maybe more from her gym are going to it too. They’ll get to travel there by bus, and stay in college dorms. Wish I could be 11 again, and her twin and going too!!!! :) So wonderful to see you back, my dear — I’ve missed you so much!!! Yet… this week, Spring Break, it’s been a joy to see her still loving playgrounds, asking to go to the Childrens’ Museum, and she and her friend made sand castles this afternoon at the little sandy beach at the lake. May we ALL keep the sweet spirit of childhood fun in our hearts. :)

LOVE your moon dust, Girl!! A real treasure from this miracle of stars that reminds me that tho we may not be on each others’ blogs as much as we may have in the past, we are ever friends.

Business venture….. panned on working on the storage locker clearing / selling venture today, but a little detour mapped out an alternate adventure for me. Looking forward to putting on my sneakers and stretchy pants to get some more loads tomorrow! Might even don a hat if it does not mar my freshly-coiffed tresses. :)

Hug, moon dust and your smile exactly what I’d secretly ordered from the Universe earlier today. Thanks!! Love you, Sweetie!!!!

Thank you Dearest Grace Heaven, I was thinking about your comment earlier and her talent. She’s always loved to climb, jump and test her physical abilities. She was only 3 months old when I was building a block tower at a bank to amuse her and she reached out and knocked it down! She crawled up into the kitchen (only 2 steps and quite a low rise) at 5 months. I remember her cousin Georg was here and him saying “Well, what are YOU doing all the way up here?” And that shining look of success on her face then. And when she took her first steps at age 10 mos. Anyway, late night reminiscing here. :) Yep, working away at the gainly employ for about 8 hours a day.

Snaggle, Bo Baggle… Thanks for the spring wishes! Has it sprung your way too? I think summer actually kicked in here too for a couple afternoons. Did you tip a solstice cocktail to the stars? Or is it the other one, what’s that called? Summer Solstice and Winter whatchamacallit? I guess we’re in Equinox now. Spring has sprung. I bought my bedding impatiens today. Pretty good weekend in Business Venture sales.

It takes teamwork, of course. Hubby helps out too. I like being his boss. :)

K & B — you all are AWESOME!! So glad to see you out and about for a comment. Thanks. Well… Kelly began her first gymnastics training at age 2 or 3 (I’d have to look at the Properties on the jpegs to see the actual date. She had a great 2 years with “The Little Gym” then tried Kung Fu, ballet and tap for 2 years, or so. Then started once a week at age 7 at the gym we are still lucky to be part of. A little over a year ago she made it onto the competitive team, after 3.5 FUN years advancing to the top of the “Golden Girls” on the recreational side. I asked her in the car a few weeks ago what her favorite parts of her week days were and she replied… “Lunch, and getting to go to gymnastics.” :) Oh, her gym goes to Level 10, then it’s on to college, or I guess the Olympic and other International levels. Hope she wins. All those product endorsements she’ll star in will set me up right nicely in donuts for all time.

Dearest Liara, maybe you have an Olympic Swimming candidate on your hands?? I love seeing what kids will gravitate towards, it’s amazing what they can achieve. New degrees of freedom and expanded spirit are what I’ve been experiencing here a lot today on this fun Monday! There is a magic about the day.

MaryD, why I do believe it’s been such a while since you popped in for tea! Feels like old times, my friend. Yes, and with a gymnastics home that puts its heart and soul into training, while making it fun, with respect for all is truly a PRICEless. As to checks, I could write them “all day long” but covering them is important too. :) :) Luckily I can work flexibly from home, and make myself available for Her Gymnastics-ness chauffeuring needs. :) And sorry you were in “Pending” comments there for 2 days, been that long since I’ve been here.

Claudia, elegantly yes, a great word for her and this performance! And too bad I cut the video off so quickly, she was absolutely BEAMING after this beam performance to have gotten that full turn. Oh well, there will be more beam beaming, and I’m sure more for bars, vaulting and floor exercise too, and hopefully for many many years to come!! :)

Hi Brian, that’s so nice of you to come back. You always go so above and beyond the blogging call of duty. And we all appreciate you so much!! ya know….. she very well could be doing even more advanced moves than this in the 2 or 3 weeks since I posted this. When she catches onto something, she really gets it, and is inspired to the next lessons. Yep, enjoyed a bit of blog hopping earlier this week.

And now….. I am going to another place…

    Hi Jannie,

Time flies doesn’t it? I thought I’d been here for this one but guess I just read it on the fly and didn’t get back. You have quite an accomplished daughter, and I know you’re proud. I hope Spring has sprung for you. Our weather went from a cold March to a very warm April. What happened to Spring?

Anyway, I hope you and yours are well. Have a great weekend!

Hi Jannie! We’re not planting things outside here yet. More almost frozen rain to walk thru tomorrow. A teeny Weenie tiny Thyme sprouted in my kitchen finally today. See if I can keep some going all year again. Maybe the basil will come up too….
Planted Impatien seeds n still waiting for those too.

Good luck with all those auctions!

Thanks ladies, I read your comments days ago and started replying but time pulled me elsewhere.

Linda — you’re a peach, as usual! Spring is glorious here. My pittosporums are totally abuzz with honey bees. I wonder where there hives are? Maybe I could follow them home some how. Guess I’ll have to grow wings and shrink myself first.

Snaggle, any parsley, sage or rosemary with that thyme? :) Sounds wonderful, that and basil. I bought impatiens seedlings, all doing well. Luckily, I got them all in just before 2 days of rain last week, whoohooo.

I could never the the dverse poetry thing figured out. Not sure where my brain synapses are missing, but whenever I go over there I can’t figure out how to plug in.

Alice, you old whippersnapper you at commenting, who should be home fluffing up your Jack & Jill crinolines… I was having a problem plugging in at DVerse then I tried commenting a little before 2:00 on the previous post and / or Following them on the previous post and it let me in. Elsewise I kept F5ing and F5ing to comment but Mister Linky did reject my advances. :) Is what you mean by plugging in? Or just getting a poem ready and generically joining in? My synapses are prettymuch kaput. :)

Just figuring out how they work. Brian would have little comments at the bottom of his posts of what was expected, but I could never put what was expected from the site in enough time to do anything with it.
