Jannie Does A Thursday 13!!!

Just Good Stuff | Posted by Jannie on 16 May 2013 @ 1:31 PM 33 Comments

My talented good friend Alice Audrey has inspired me to a 13 because she’d bravely exposed her desk.

13 things on one corner of my desk, un-posed, un-photoshopped and more-or-less un-focused….

1. A photo of Jim back in his Wilde West days.
2. Some of my Mothers Day flowers in a yardsale-boughten vase.
3. A yardsale-boughten bloom holder that houses my pens and such.
4. A 6″ by 8″ ceramic tile depicting the king’s daughters transporting baby Moses from the rushes to the castle. The tile was in a box of random odds and ends at a yard sale. Love it!
5. My business cards in a clear plastic holder.
6. An old pressed glass 9.5″ diameter 4.5″ tall pedestal cake stand.
7. A bombastically big & beautiful German Luster white / gilt cup and saucer.
8. A “Flight Of The Banana Seat Bike” postcard my dear sweet friend and fellow — I mean sister,  songwriter Heather Miller mailed me. I met Heather at an Open Mike at The Whip-In here a couple years ago. She was down from Iowa for a year working on her music. She’s AWESOME!! (btw, I’ve revised the bridge of Banana Seat Bicycle and am still fiddling (and guitarring) with the 3rd verse. Glad I’d not recorded a “Final Vocal” of it for my 2nd cd yet. See… all really IS unfolding as is planned!!
9. A photo of me ‘n Kelly with Easter Bunny when she was 3.
10. A 2″ diam. flat-ish rock Kelly had written “R.I.P. Clipy — 2012 to 2012” for a lobster we steamed last year. (A second rock with “R.I.P. Stuart” on it for the other lobster, is obscured from view by the cup and saucer and the cake stand.
11. paperclips in a small blue and white non-chipped!! porcelain bowl.
12. a rectangular covered basket full of  little “mini DV” videotapes, maybe 60 hours worth of family video from my pre-memory card camera days. “One day” I’ll get those converted to whatever the new play-back technology of the day is.
13. a whole lotta love.

Yes, I sit at the helm of my eBay sales ship amidst packing peanuts, “to-ship” plastic bins and treasures bought at yard and estate sales — on a child-size rocking chair at a child-height desk. (Chair bought at a yardsale too!!)

(Photo of me in the chair for you some day — but I’ll have to get my ball gown dry-cleaned first for the photo shoot, of course!!)

A grown-up sized quarter-sawn solid oak credenza awaits in my future Colorado mountain lake-view mansion.  :)

So that’s it! Happy Thursday Thirteening, and otherwise to you all. (Thanks to Alice’s comment it’s linked correctly now.)

With love, from Jannie

P.S. I know you see Kitty-Kitty  in the last pic, but did you catch him in the middle one too?

DEAR ALICE AUDREY!! I think I played along with this many many moons ago, actually back on my old blog that did not have comments. Thanks, I corrected the link to the TTH main hub. Forgive me for linking your desk directly? :) You were inspirational to me, thx!

DEAREST MIA CELESTE! I so appreciate you hopping on over here, thanks. yes, that’s our oldest of 6 cats. Kitty-Kitty is now 6. Mieshka is 2 and the 4 “kittens” now just over a year. All spayed and neutered!! Yes, Kitty-Kitty is my main little eBay sidekick, and does love a good box.

LINNIE-BO-BINNIE DEAREST!! Next time I might pose my desktop all nice and fancy — get the lighting and camera setting just so too. :) A busy desk is a happy desk, right? And happiness is having a kitty in a box.

DEAR JANET!!! Enchanted to make your aqcuaintance. I’d forgotten what fun it is to meet new blogging friends, haven’t played along on a meme in a while. Yes — our daughter is quite the character!! She was only 10 when she came up with the R.I.P. headstones for the 2 lobstahs! Nice to be on board with a 13, but I’m not sure how often I can “play.” Not as much time for blog-hopping to all your wonderful blogs as I may one day have again. But it’s all good!! eBay’s helping pay the bills.

DEAR NESSA!! Well, what a surprise to see you here. Welcome back!! I guess you’re a Thursday 13er, as well as a Friday 55er? :) I like the creamer holder plan, i do have a few from yardsale boxes I could avail myself of. Good idea!

DEAR BRIAN!! yes, kitty being cardboard box color does blend in. Books, eh? And poems. Sounds like a great desk!!! I hardly ever write poems with pen and paper anymore. Nice to hear some still do!!!

DEAR HILARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just yesterday thinking of you, as I do whenever i see a lovely garden and flowers. And I know you’ve posted TONS and not seen Jannie over there much. I’ve got these plane tickets to buy for Canada this summer, you see….. and spending lots of time right here at my depicted ebay Central desk! Well, Jim had brought that and another bloom holder thing-y home from a yard sale and I just fell upon the idea of it holding pencils — and voila!! Cheers and love to YOU and Hardwick and the other critters too.

DEAREST SNAGGLE!! Have the workers been fixing that?? Be good to get it leak-free and on with your desk life, eh? But I suppose you have to wait for a downpour to know for sure. I am not really in love with that vase the flowers are in, grabbed the first one I saw, but it does the trick.

    And i guess…… that’s that for this. :)

Lovely to see you, Jannie. That’s quite the operation you’ve got going there, girl! Hope you’ve found some time for a little bra-flinging! :) xxx

Dear Heavenly Heaven, my desk is actually one of the less messy areas of our house. Just kidding. Just kidding. Sort of. :)Yes, there is a basic method to my desk’s magic, I mean madness. I do get these passing moments of organizational lucidity. Good to see you too, always.

Dear Wonderful Talon!! Ooooo, what are you sewing??? I’m very intrigued, wonderful Earth Mother Goddess you are. Oh, and you know that bra-flinging song clip i sent you the other day…..? Well an additional line came to me for it which goes as this… “It’s Jim, it’s Jim — blame it on him!!!!!” :) :) :) yeah, quite the eBay operation, and that’s not even showing you all of it — in a not-too-far away corner I have more shelves set up for my stock. And an additional corner for more shipping supplies, oy. I like shipping tho. I get so much great Feedback from my buyers about my AMAZING packaging. A lot of the china has to be double-boxed. Yes, cats are so funny. Whatever new you’re doing they have to be right there checking it out and making it their own.

G-est of Man-est… you know one of these Thursdays at 8:00 Flint, Michigan time Jannie will be a swoopin’ on in there to snag the Yahtzee. But don’t hold your breath, obviously. :) :)

Yes, Dear Claudia, it’ll be my satin skypowder blue one. Not that I have one like that. But I could make one. Or have Talon sew me one!!! (Read her comment above.) I do have a nice new brown cotton crinkle maxi skirt that would do great, tho. And I’m sure I could pair it with an equally sporting shirt for the shoot. :)

That’s it My Dear George M. !! I can tidy the desk up pretty quickly tho when I want to. IF I want to. Luckily that urge almost never hits me. :)

My Dear Daisy, whenever I see you’ve graced me with another visit here, all is well indeed. Thank you. And in other parts of my life everything’s going pretty well too, yes. Not working too hard at eBay at this moment. :) Yes, that Kitty does like to hang out with me during the day. he’s so awesome!!!!!

And Jannie is off to make a cup of tea, she thinks.

To drink it in a lovely old luster cup, but not the one depicted.

LadyInRead… I am hoping I’ll be able to use a photograph of said postcard somewhere in the art for my next cd. have to secure the right to use from New Belgium Brewing. Each song will have its own cool graphic woven into a tapestry that may include but is not limited to some kind of collage of rococco warp and ancient oak forest weft. :)Children’s books can certainly delight, sounds cool!

That easter egg hunt looked fun. One year a blue bunny should be the easter bunny- it can be a new fad, much like the Cadbury bunny.

And I saw the kitty in both pictures.

And when you update the old style mini DV’s… Walmart converts them. They run specials every so often too.. and they’ll match any local offer too. (It’s about 20 dollars for one DVD conversion- two tapes up to 2 hrs total will fix on 1 DVD.)

Dear Joey, yep, still doing eBay as my main “job.” Hubby’s got his own account now too, and I do all the packaging and shipping for us both. Luckily I delight in the preparation of parcels that will thrill and warm the world. I’m currently highest bidder on 750 peel and stick shipping labels!! Yep, time to upgrade from the olde scissors and tape method. I also have 2 other big china shelves off in another wing of this sprawling mansion. Annnd… a Limoges cup and saucer sold last night as I slept!

Hi Dear K. And B.! BB did want me to photoshop him into each of these pix, but alas I had to divert that time to more gainful employ. I like those Easter Creme eggs by Cadbury — do you?!! You were very observational with Kit-Kat whose wheaten wonder does tend to blend into paper grocery bags and cardboard boxes. Hey, maybe I can find one of those dv converter machines on eBay for a great price and do the job myself! As you probably know… I do my own root blonding, haircutting and pedicures — so I’m sure I can do tape conversion too!! :) Or better yet — have Kelly do it, she’s so smart.

Dearest Audrey, are you a teacher, or student — or both? Than again, the Wise Ones might comment that we are ALL teachers and students all the time, and of and for each other. I was thinking about you the other day! Really, my desk is cool?? Then I must be cool too, right?? :) :) :)

Dearest Dr. J. the past 2 months I’d say I’ve been averaging 3 blog visits per week to you guys, with 10 of said visits in just this past week! I’ve been re-writing my newer-old lyrics and working on new-new ones too of late. “Love Will Be The Answer” has settled into “Love Is The Answer.” Changing up a lot of the verse lyric on that too. And writing poems about all of the above and more! Life is good, and I know you are allowing it to be happy in your realm too :)

Dear Amy, yep my little motley crue. :) some picked-over angels that settled their wings near me. Shabby chic without even trying. :)So glad you found your little tabby. Mine gets more precious by the minute. Scarlett oHara dress, I like that. I actually do have a lovely long satin champagne color gown I’ve had up on eBay for like 3 months now. I think it’s down to thirty bucks with free shipping now, so hopefully soon it’ll make somebody shine. I could don it for some photos in the meantime. With desk and shelves all posed prettily.

Dear Mr. G-string afficionado, I also have the Low E string, the A string, the D, the B and the hi E. Been strumming them today and singing “Be the peace you want to see a wise one said to me. Be light you are…” and other lyrical plausibilities……

Dearest Liara, as i was wailing on Mother’s Day at the assumed loss of over 6 months’ worth of family photos I did think of you and how it is all transient anyway.
