Some Of What I’ve Been Up To Since I Last Posted

Gymnastics, Just Good Stuff, The Parakeets | Posted by Jannie on 2 August 2013 @ 7:31 PM 28 Comments

Enjoying our scrapbooking gymnast.

Enjoying my new desk. I kept me a Capodimonte mug!

Enjoying The Gymnast’s ’round-the-block steering lessons.

Enjoying choosing and mailing a birthday present to my sister.

Enjoying posing a Carlsbad Caverns paperweight with a sleeping KitKat.

Enjoying the Monet print Jim got at a yard sale for FOUR DOLLARS, FRAMED!!!! That’s Mah Man!!

My man on the move — always full of surprises. :)

What do you think those 2 by the sea are saying, Sara? Or anyone?

Enjoying our ‘keets, Sunny & Angel. Unfortunately, Chico (the blue one who replaced Timmy) shot out past my hand a few weeks ago at feeding time, executed two backyard high loop-de-loops, soared over the treetops, and I’ve not seen him since. :(

Hopefully he and Timmy are out there having fun together! :)

Enjoying friends. Tracy Funster & Mardi Funster.

They rock!

And they jazz. And they blues.

Enjoying photography experimentation with mid-century glass.

Enjoying going through my old iPhone song idea clips. Could a song about buttocks be coming one day to a theater near you??! I think so!! :) :) :)

The chorus goes like this…

Everybody’s buttocks are beautiful,
No matter the shape or size.
Everybody’s buttocks are beautiful…
in God’s eyes!!

Enjoying seeing and hearing about The Gymnast’s improvement on the apparati.

Enjoying hearing the same about her team mates.

(I love how her pose mirrors the iron tree behind her in that pic!) I swear it was not planned. :)

Enjoying selling stuff on eBay.

Postie comes right up our walkway when I schedule a package pick-up, whoohooo!!

Posties Rock! Especially a certain poetic one I like.

And here’s a photo from this morning…

Track at 7:00 a.m. — part of summer gymnastics.

Team trains 35 hours a week during summer, what a rockin’ gym!!

Monday to Friday mornings we’re either at track or the gym by 7:00. (And up at 6:00.) Oy. :)

2 of the 35 hours are ballet, where she and her team-mates dress up all matchingly cute.

I didn’t mean to go almost a whole month without posting, but you know how it goes sometimes.

Life’s been calling.

P.S. Most of these pix are a bit fuzzy ’cause my good camera broke. :(

But you know what? Take pictures when inspired, no matter your camera quality! These are the moments of our love.

Now… I’m off to drink some wine!!

This is just a festival of fun! Or I should say funsterness. :) How neat the the Funsters came to visit! I’m so impressed with Kelly’s gymnast moves. And I echo Brian Miller in voting for the buttocks song. :)

Looks as if you are staying very busy with the ebaying. The postie sees how nice you are and wants to help, I’m thinking. Are you selling that beautiful green glass?

I think the man in the painting is saying in a cultured British accent, “You look beautiful this morning, darling.”

Hello Beautiful Darlings who are so kind to not only slog through a whole 20 pix and running commentary — but to grace me with your thoughts.

BRIAN, I am def moving the Buttocks song from the back burner to the front! And I think the lyric is about all there, just need to listen to what I came up with so far and make some kind of a story with it. So….. you on a stay-cation or an away-cay? Yeah, Papa lets her steer a bit round our quiet hood — with his foot poised ever-ready over the brake! :) And when she’s 15 we’ll get her a Humm-V to learn in and maybe her license the day she’s 16. :) We’ll see how it goes.

LYNN, yes, Mardi and Tracy still live here in Austin, well actually Tracy down in San Marcos. We get together when we can. Stevie Funster’s still in CA, but boy — should he return, we’ll be a rocking foursome again. Okay, another vote for me getting to the buttocks song!! Gonna do that. Yes, Postie is a sweetie. I try to box or bag up the parcels to make his trek back to his car a little easier. Yes, I am selling the glass on eBay, would love to keep it. But — I’d rather support a certain young rising star I know than gaze upon the lovely green glass all day. :) Plus — I’ve got my Capodimonte mug to feast my art-hungry eyes upon!! :) And…. I think the lady in Monet replies to his cultured British accent in her wonderful Georgia soft accent… “Oh, Stanley I bet you say that to ALL the girls!!” :)

Hey, G.B.!! I think the amount of hours for summer practice is right on target, considering the girls are learning skills on floor exercise, vault, beam AND bars. It’s amazing to see them progress. And their coaches are too awesome to adequately describe, I have to pinch myself now and then to see if this is all really a dream. :) I LOVE figure skating, my second fave Olympic sport. How many years has Jenelle been skating? Can she do Lutzes and Axels and such??

Oh yes, Dear Daisy, long and full indeed. Generally I take Saturday off from eBay after I wrap my parcels up and put them out in the morning. And I’ve been doing even more stuff than depicted — but to show all would take probably 50 to 100 pix!! :) yes, having a great weekend, and hope you are too. Heading soon down to our lake park with friends, like stepping into Hawaii for a while. :)

Yo ED, yep, I loves taking me some pictures, always something interesting to capture if my camera keeps its eyes open to all the fun stuff going on.

HEAVEN, sweet eh, on the Four Dollar Monet!! I’ve always loved that one especially. The colors! The sea! The wind! The wonder! Amazing how anyone could not want that on their wall anymore.

Jannie is going now to don her red 1-piece swim suit and head to Hawaii in her mind.

Hilary, Hilary, I like your hat
How does your head feel under that?
    You’re quite a stunner
    Fair rose in the patch.
And as friends go, the pick of the catch!

That was meant to compliment!! Hope my poem-on-the-spot gets that across. And I kind of stole a bit of Dylan’s pill-box-hat lyric, but I’m sure he doesn’t mind. :) Well, Angel did not take much cotton to Chico at all, so maybe it was best he fly free. I do miss Timmy, trying not to blame myself for leaving that door partway open. But I do. Sometimes. He sure was a happy little guy, singing ALL the day long. Anyway, on to cheerier thoughts. I read or heard that just north of Austin proper there is a flock of wild parakeets with either one parrot or cockatiel banded and flying free. And isn’t there a flock of parakeets in London?! I thought I read that once. Yep, busy, and another dozen or so packages out on the bench right now awaiting Postie. He drives a metallic royal blue PT Cruiser (his own car) but is hoping to upgrade to one of those little postal trucks. Kind of a senority issue, he tells me. I’d write him a letter of recommendation!! Anyway… :) Happily track is first thing 2 mornings a week, when it’s cool out. I’d personally love to be walking LadyBird Lake, all those tall tall shady trees. Well, Dear Hils, don’t judge a buttocks song by its chorus. :) :) :) I think I may be able to pull it off cohesively. :) Start out by lamenting how my buttocks are not quite as
“bubbly” as back in my Jazzercise days… and see how a story can unfold. :) Yep, we Funsters are friends for the long run. Mardi is among my very best friends — like you.

Hey Dr. J! That’s called either a Dobro, or a Dojo? And you know about Dojo’s and such, with your Karate black belt and all. :) A dobro-banjo. Nice when a slide is used on it. And nice when it’s not. :)

And… I’ve taken photos for my 7 next auctions, now to keep the eBay motivationn going, perchance to set said auctions live by 5:00 so I can eat cake and play guitar…

Buttocks song may be what is needed in the world because it’s a chief concern to most. I blame it on clothing stores that tend to make bottoms too narrow for the average butt.

Well,Linda there is a lot to be done these days. But to she whom much is given, much is asked, right? Well ya know, things break so we can go on to get even better things. Jim got me a Nikon D70 at a yard sale for ridiculously cheap. Supposed to be a great cam for web sharing, and any poster up to 11 x 17. Then again, I think any art over that size should be a painting, anyway. :) At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. So….. Oh, and here for you and Raven, a photo I just took about 10 minutes with my iPhone 3GS… but don’t go away, I shall continue my little chat with you below.

Actually, my dears, I’ll post the pic, go get lunch, get in the bath (hair washing day today!!) :) and scoot to pick Kelly up and take her for her “well check” and booster shots. No school for her in this upcoming 7th grade unless she has 2 immunizations. And I, unlike some who opt-out, think shots are fine.

    See you all later!

You are sweeter than sweet tea:~) Thanks for mention. Okay, not my best effort, but here goes. I think the 2 by the sea say this:

Shall we take a stroll by the sea, my dear?
Oh yes, let’s do saunter down by the pier.
Oh, Fredrick, I’ve news that may cause you fear
So, lean close, let me whisper into your ear… (Fredrick looks shocked)
No. This cannot be true, my dearest Mary Eyre!
Jannie wouldn’t write a song about a derriere!

(As they stroll, a smug smile is on the lady’s face. She thinks she stolen away the man, but little does she know, Fredrick is enchanted by ANY song written by Lady Jannie Funster:~)

So Linda… What did you buy?? What did you buy??!! Fancy socks and Montartre honey nougat? Actually, shoot, it’s not really Montmartre, but some town not far from Lyon that begins with an M, I think, the nougat capital of the world. I could eat 12 of those almond ones in a sitting. (Okay, I lied. I could eat 20. and sometimes did.) I was in that town once. Thanks — I had 2 glasses with you in spirit, quite a party, eh? :) The New Camera, I’m still a bit scared of, but I did completely charge the battery and opened the camera case as a reminder to me that tonite’s the Big Night for me to fire it up and see what it can do. I imagine the manual’s online anyway. Maybe I’ll even take a class if I need to. Why not! I might actually learn something to better my photography! :)

Hey, Rave, sometimes photos just take themselves from scenes that create themselves from the sands of time that drift into ever-sculpting dunes and oases, with the light guiding the eyes’ way. :) Buttocks!! I have taken to wearing skirts like a prairie girl of olden day. I have bought 5 this summer!!! Finally found a style I like that is cool for the Texas broil — in 100% cotton, fo course. Got me a blue one, light brown, dark brown, white, and raspberry parfait. And I got the eBay and thrift store deals, averaging about $12.00 each!! And I deserve them all!!!!! :) I’d like an ice-blue shirt — the blue of the sky’s reflection on a Canadian meadow skating pond. I love pants in winter, especially those with flared legs. Thanks for dropping by!!

And now… I gotta get back to eBay for a while, Dudes!

    Other Sweeties, I’ll return!

Sara, Dear Sara, please forgive me for leaving you dangling there on a golden thread from the cyber moon all these days. So, you like sweet tea? I like hot orange pekoe with a bit of milk. And chilled pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream with that tea please! Or hot apple or cherry with vanilla ice cream, thanks! Speaking of “derriere songs…” and I kid you not on this — not sure if you’ve ever heard of an old folk tune, English I think, called “Londerry Aire?” Well, until I finally saw it’s title in writing, I thought for years it was actually called “London Derriere.” :) :) I don’t think there are any lyrics to it, but there could be. Anyway… I’m here. And so far today I’ve driven The Kid to The Gym for 7:00, came back and slept 2 hours, packaged up 10 things for Postie, drank a coffee and ate some cheese, bread, and waffles The last picture!! And she’s even more flexible than that now. I believe that’s called a Scorpion, I’m sure she’ll excel at it one day, and maybe even give it some new Kelly twist. I’ve no doubt she’ll have some move or another named after her on at least 1 of the 4 womens’ Apparati. Would not surprise me! She’s getting really good at something called a Needle too, where her leg comes up frontwards alongside her head. I think that’s the move. And guess what? I now know the names of and can quite easily identify such moves as a layout (front and back!) a clearhip handstand, and a Yurchenko — among others! I am such a newbie, but enjoying learning all this stuff, and enjoying watching a lot of Elite and college gymnastics video with Kelly on Youtube.

Oh, My Dear Snaggle, who has also been dangling in cyber world. Maybe dangling from a donut or a croissant in the air? :) I was rather surprised when a few weeks ago Jim came in and summoned me to the car, where Kelly proceeded to sit on his lap as he manned the brake and gas and she the steering. Quite a bit apprehensive at first, but a bit more relaxed as we proceeded around the block. ours is a pretty traffic-free suburban area, and Jim was going slow enough I felt it was okay for Kelly to steer. Yeah, KitKat is WAY cuddly still, but I realize I am most allergic to him, so take precautions to keep his dander off me as much as possible. No more kissing the top of his cute little head! Made my face all blotchy and my lips sore. just thinking about it now, makes me itchy! I do pet him, tho. And wash my hands afterwards. Well, Angel is one of the original 2 we had, we still have her. Timmy flew away accidentally first, then Chico who was Angel’s next cage-make flew the coop. And he was “replaced” but not the best word by our current Sunny. He and Angel are 2 happy little peas in a big wire pod. That really really sucks about your upload troubles. You are the most patient uploader I’ve ever heard about. Yes, I forget how summer can pull a working mom in many directions, but most of them good directions. :) And school here starting 2 weeks from yesterday. We’re actually going away to the Coast for 3 days next week, whoohooo!!!! Oh, cam, see below to Hank (Kaykuala) as he mentioned it too.

Hank!! Kaykuala. But Hank, speaking of a busy mom… I have to go now!! Kelly and her dad are back and it’s her Big Moment to use this computer to download fonts onto her iPhone for her gymnastics photoshop creations. Soooo……. off Jannie goes.

Hey Dear T. Yes, what IS it about days getting swallowed up? :) The important thing is to enjoy the journey and the Now. Just took a bunch of eBay photos! And I can now upload them at my OWN computer again, at my OWN (grown-up-size! :) desk. Thinking (until it sells) that green glass will go nicely with the lawn in that Monet. Just had a brainwave to replace the fake Monet oil painting here on the wall to my right with the new Monet print. Better wall size area and lighting for both. Plus I’ll get to enjoy the ocean here at my desk all day!! Yes, a switch-er-ooo on the 2 wall arts. And perhaps I’ll post pix in these comments later to show you exactly what I mean. Probably not with my new Yard sale Nikon, tho, sussing that out is on tomorrow’s list. Anyhoo, yes Kelly is working really hard at gymnastics, her effort is paying off. She’s been telling me about her vault and bars improvement lately and I can’t wait to see that little TinkerBell in action!! :)

Snaggle, yay!!!! I’ll be over after I switch out the 2 Monets, photograph them, check Kim’s text re the Storage Locker & such! Perchance to spend some time on my songwriting, been 2 days since that — 2 days too long! :) You picked up your guitar and sang lately?

Joey — I’ll have to make it with a dance beat, then! Hmmn, maybe a rap kind of Buttocks song, along the Blondie vein. Rap I’d want to listen to. :) OMG, and I thought of you in passing as I was passing through the living room where hubby was watching, oh what’s the name of that show??!! Bar Rescue! I stopped for a minute to tune in, fascinated at the DJ science of melding 1 song to the next, bpm-wise. Creating slower lulls for people to buy more drink$$. :) I bet you would like that episode. Yeah, Chico was very young and full of kid-energy. When new food and drink arrived he would get crazy-excited and dart all over the cage, but never coming near my hand. That day he did. Just a flashing swirl and whoosh of blue to the left of my left hand. But MAN!! Was he built for flying! Jim actually saw it too. He was at the kitchen sink window at the time facing the same way I was. I started writing a song about Timmy but it seemed too sad, even when I gave it a happier twist. I think I forgive myself, tho for carelessly leaving that door partway open. And The Wise One(s) say all happens as part of a plan, only lessons and blessings along the way, and that there really never is anything to forgive, as there is only goodness anyway. I have safeguards in place now to cover the partially-opened door when I change out food and water. Sunny and Angel LOVE each other — talk about love birds. I’m happy they have each other. And they really are such little characters. When they get to hang out under the back deck / tree during the day, they’re like kids on a perpetual playscape. But unlike most little kids, they are no challenge at all to put to bed! They fly up to their bedroom perches each evening, and are quiet all night. :) eBay… here they’re talking about a cross-all-States Internet Sales Tax, which would be decided by some Federal entity. Currently, only Texas folks who buy from me have to pay sales tax which I collect and remit it to the State Comptroller quarterly. Anyway… I am grateful for eBay, as I can be flexible with my schedule. After we “lost” our car business (but gained a happier life) I thought about going back to school teaching, or working retail, or something. (Until I’m raking in the millions with my songs…) But having a home-based Internet store with awesome products I enjoy working with is a great place to be. And I like being my own boss!

    Speaking of eBay…

But first over to feast my eyes on Snaggle’s ocean pix…
