All Else Aside, How ‘Bout Twenty-Three Photos From The Past Thirty Days Taken With Kelly’s Old iPhone 4S, As I Need To Order A “Micro-Switch” Off Ebay For My Kodak EasyShare Z981 Which Is On The Blink Again But Really Is A Great Little Camera When It Actually Works.

This past Saturday and Sunday our awesome gymnastics club hosted a meet for 575 athletes.

It rocked!

And I got to do iPad score entry for all 5 sessions!!!

For our “Wizard of Oz” theme I designed and painted that 7′ x 7′ 5″ mural. Started it Monday and finished Friday, painting sometimes long into the night, mostly because I had no idea what I was doing :) but I think it ended up fine!

Part of me wants to now cover the hills completely in poppies.

But most of me just wants a long long nap. :)

A late night Toe Selfie — my right big toe tapped the button.

(Yes, my left hand was covered in green paint. Parts of me still are. And may be for a long time.) :)

Sponged on and swirled the sky first.

Many awesome parents, coaches and gymnasts lend their time and talents to pull off this annual event.

(Sorry about the yellow brick road tape residue. My partial bad. Never again tape on the floor, I super-promise.)

Other artistes helped decorate too…

In Other Gym News… a couple weeks ago Kelly made major progress on the uneven bars!

Took that through the left gym door window at the end of practice. She was beaming.

Yay, Kelly! So proud of you for trusting yourself and your coach to fly away, perchance to land on your feet each time!!

In More Other News… I’ve begun home-schooling her in French.

I told you I am a certified French teacher, right?! I actually taught kids Kelly’s age 25 years ago in Nova Scotia!

Bought a good used curriculum for pennies on the dollar, off eBay and

We will probably home-school Kelly entirely starting next year, so she can focus even more on gymnastics while allowing her a continued schoolin’ / sleep / Instagram / family / friend time balance.

This year “we” do homework 30 minutes daily before gym.

Luckily we have a PE waiver, which allows her to leave school at 2:40 instead of 4:00.

On the Home-Improvement and Organizing front of my life…

I turned a Goodwill pile into this…

And with simple denim panels and a rod (yard sale finds totaling $10…)

I transformed my eBay storage nook into this…

Notice the cat on the shelf 2 photos above?

Here he is again…

“Ceviche” likes to sleep on the Medium Flat Rate boxes.

In Other Big News, someone in our house recently turned 13!

It was a sleep-over party on a rainy Saturday night where they painted each others’ nails and laughed a lot.

Bought that custom banner off eBay for $20 for her 6th birthday.

On her actual birth day Thursday morning I snapped the following a nano-second before she turned to notice the banner on her way to the school bus stop…

I guess most everybody on the bus saw it and cheered for her, and the driver announced her birthday over the PA.

Pretty awesome.

P.S. You ALL rock!
P.P.S. I have not visited any blogs in 5 or 6 weeks, sorry. Hopefully soon I will!
P.P.P.S. You rock even more than the last time I told you so.
P.P.P.P.S. I am going to sleep now.

Wow! 13 years! Who would’ve thunk it!

Homeschooling sounds like a good idea nowadays, especially if your personal viewpoint doesn’t coincide with what the public school system tries to indoctrinate the average student with. French sounds like a good second language (my daughter is taking 2nd year French) but nowadays, Spanish would be a better choice to go if you’re gonna do the bi-lingual thing.

That is an awesome mural you painted, Jannie Muffin. Love the inclusion of the poppies. Pahhhpeees… Sounds and looks like a wonderful event.

I did not know you were a certified French teacher, but I’m not surprised. I loaded a French app on my phone and tried to learn it. :) I guess I’ll stick with Spanish (bad at that, too, though.)

Is that kitty for sale? Love the piano!

And happy birthday to Kelly! What a lovely, talented young lady. What a happy thing that banner was. You are a wonderful mom. oxxoox

I love experiencing your life via pictures:~) You know I love pictures anyway. This was fun and it’s nice to stop and see what’s new for you.

The mural was well done and I don’t think you needed to expand the poppies. They were just enough red to draw my eyes into the picture.

Regarding the cat, it took me a second but I found him. You always manage to make me laugh as I scroll through the pictures. I loved it when you said, ““Ceviche” likes to sleep on the Medium Flat Rate boxes.”

Happy birthday to Kelly!!! She really has grown up and thanks to your blog, we’ve gotten to watch her become a young woman. Loved the banner and it must have fun to see her turn and notice it!

P.S. It took a few minutes to figure out what was covering all the other faces, but agree it was a good idea. Sometimes we don’t think about this with our pictures of others, especially children!

Good luck with the homeschooling. I imagine it will make easier on Kelly to concentrate on her gymnastics, as well as have more time for friends and other activities. I agree with Lynn…you are a great mom:~)

    Hi Jannie,
Nice to see you again. Happy B-day to Kelly! I know you are proud of all that she has accomplished, and home schooling should make things easier for her. Bless you for all that you do. As others have said, you are a great mom.

Cats do find the greatest places to snooze don’t they? They are masters at it. Sophie loves her a good box and will spend hours in there.

    Have a great weekend!

I know, GB! It’s CRAZY! Next she’ll be 21, then 31 and getting married, or whenever she gets married. If she gets married. Which she probably will. But anyway, I already digress. :) Well, our school is pretty cool, apolitical, I’d say even if they do have the whole Global Warming thing wrong in the texts… And French because of our Canadian connection, the current plan being to move back lock stock and guitar to the Olde Home and Native Lande in less than 2 years. She actually did get a fair bit of Spanish instruction in Kinder and First, so those language neuro pathways were nicely opened and built during that Absorbent Mind period of hers.

Yeah, you like my mural, Lynnie?!! I had to cut a flap in it for the A/C wall switch. :) No biggie, tho. I would love to sit with you and do the French curriculum!! Any open mind of Formal Operations stage (as per J. Piaget) would really learn well from it. And what’s cool is you can go online to QuizLet for quizzes for the actual lessons in the program i bought!! And quizzes on the publisher’s site. Kitty “Ceviche” could be for sale to you, as I know you’d love him. I actually adopted him a month ago, to save him from possible euthanization. He’s a sweetie! Now we are back to 3 cats, Karma having gone missing too.

Anyhoo, gotta drift back into Real Life for a while….. :) :)

You really have turned into a gym mom. I get this Olympic feel from it all.

Happy Birthday to Kelly! We also have a sign that I reuse for birthdays. Only it’s not personalized. It makes it easier when you’ve got two to deal with. Still, the groan when they see it.

Yeah, Sara, I love pictures too! And yep, I think I’ll leave the poppies as are. And I ordered some more Med. Flats today. Ceviche is actually a yard cat for now. The indoor thing did not go so well. He peed on things! To show his dominance over the existing Clue-Clue and Kitty-Kitty. Luckily, he’d been a semi-feral dude and survived on many many acres in the Hill Country for at least 4 full seasons before moving here. So, our backyard is a dream for him. With Friskies twice daily! Yeah, I had not asked the other moms about publishing pix of their kids here, thus the camouflages. Looking forward to the homeschooling for Kelly. And me! She’ll need a math tutor or a good online course, but otherwise I think we’d have the schooling covered. And find other home-schooled kids at her level in our neighborhood. And wow, this comment got long! And guess what???!!! No School Tomorrow!!!

Hey, Linda — I’m just lucky to have so many good people in my life to help and support me to support Kelly. And holy freaking cow, speaking about her accompishments, you should see her tumbling lately!! She did a lot in our living room today and she is getting ever better!! And I think… if I had good cardboard boxes my size to frolic in, ones that would not burst apart, I’d play in them daily too!! :)

Hey, Dear Hilary! yes, she keeps me hopping. And driving. Keeps her dad hopping too. Yes, the French sit-down lessons will be fewer and farther between for a while, as we were thinking we might even be able to leave school an additional period early, have lunch, do the French so she could join the early gym training group. But nope, there is a better plan afoot, as she doesn’t have to drop choir at school. WE LOVE CHOIR!!!

Hey Dear Daisy, and I put up 60 eBay auctions over the month too. Maybe more. I forgot about that part of my life. :) Sales have been way slow lately, tho. Oh well… it’s a good. Thanks for popping by!!!!!!

Hey Alice Audrey, well, our training facility does train for Elite, and do it very well. We’ve got some awesome-talented young gymnasts at our gym!I could certainly see some of our girls taking Gold in 2020 and / or 2024! I hope you’re getting pix of the birthday banner as the years pass? :)

Dudes, I’m tired and am going to now shift to songwriting mode for the next hour before I drift off to happysleepy land.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road Kelly! Wow, I think you did OK painting there. Thinking of Poppies makes me yawn too. I should get that film on dvd some day… I recently saw the new Spiderman II, n so much is “special effect” going on in there it’s tough to absorb it all- Sjmple is far more memorable with the Wiz of Oz film, I think. Hope you didn’t wreck good clothes n covered up- Prep is the most important part of painting. I hope you’re not turning into a Martian, but hey- Green is a very lucky color!
“…Somewhere, Past the denim curtains- You sold stuff on eBAY …
Congrats on Teen-age Hood attainment in Sept Kelly!
No fingernail polish in my place- I’m allergic! No acrylic paint, either! Only lucky folks get to do that…

I’ll come back to load the rest of the pics later- My machine has a 3 pic-load limit now.

Dear Bri-Bri, I could do an online beginners French course for you all! :) And your wife is not only beautiful, but obviously very smart. Well of course she is — she married you!!!!

Dearest Talon who does make me blush again with all the compliments of loveliness. Thank you! My TEEN — I know! How fast 13 years have FLOWN! And every minute of the gift of her well appreciated. I wonder what she will be doing 13 years from now? Probably a graphic designer / photographer, traveling the world and sending her dad and me postcards. If they still have such a communication medium 13 years hence. :)

Hey, Snaggle, it’s been years and years since I saw the film. I am guessing the poppy field made them all fall asleep? Must check to see if the Library has a copy to borrow. My favorite films have a good story to them. Did “wreck” some stretchy capris painting, but I guess that’s what the Universe had in store for them, eh? I’ll be over to see you soon!!! Was sharing 1 computer with Jim for a week, but a couple days ago I was gifted this new-used good old Dell laptop from a friend who was upgrading to a Mac — how lucky is Jannie??!!!!!

Hey, Dr. J! Just realized my toes look a bit like poppies in that! In retrospect, I would’ve spent more time on the road itself, but i wanted it to be the finishing touch and I painted it Friday morning. Took the mural to the gym that afternoon.

I like the idea of 180 because it implies a twist or turn. Do a 180. But I could make it 360 characters, since we’re beyond phone range anyway. Obviously I wouldn’t even consider it until next year. Hm…..

    It’s all good.
