OCTOBER 13, 2016

This is IT pretty-much, after a few years working on this lyric on and off, more off than on…

“Love Is The Answer” Rewrite #1265 by Jannie Funster & Kelly Funster

V1
as i’m floating here with you beside the ocean blue, drifting in a dream
as the music of the leaves is laughing in the trees, evergreen
spinning ‘round and ‘round, seeking to be found
in the thoughts i think and do and say to me and say to you, i see…

Chorus
Love is the answer. Love is the dancer
light on its feet, pretty and sweet
Love is the answer. Love is why we’re here

V2
as we hum a summer tune beneath the lilac moon, twirling (or… tangoing with) in our time
as the music of the stars is pouring from our hearts, born to shine
spinning ‘round in space, glittering with grace
as we keep on turning i believe that we are learning as we go…

Chorus

Bridge
do you know, do you know
what’s running the show

Break 9 bars

V3
as the flowers and children sing and winter melts to spring, spun from heaven’s light
as the music of the wind is playing violin, day and night
spinning ‘round as one, safe in the arms of the sun
in this blaze of blessings full of lessons, if we question we will see…

Chorus

Ending:
Love, Love, Love. Love. Love!

And now I am editing on October 26, 2015 to the top version… which I think is pretty close to what I’ll be recording. I’ve only been writing on this song for like, 4 years. But on and off, and took like, a year+ break on it…

[“Final” edit :) April 4th, 2015! My 51st birthday, whooohooooo.]

Yay!!!!!!

I was never 100% happy with the lyric, and it lay fallow for over a year, until last week when the verses started magically rewriting themselves. Glad I had not done the “Final Recording.” Plus, my singing voice is so much better now!

I hope to be back in the studio in a few months to continue recording my 2nd 12 songs, whooohoooooo.

2015_Leotard

My wonderful friends, as I post this we are in Dallas for another gymnastics meet, she competes tomorrow.

Don’t ya just LOVE her new competition leotard?!! Even more stunning than last year’s, which was a hard one to top.

And what an amazing gymnast she is! Been at it for quite a few years as you probably know.

Hey, Sweet Daisy, yes indeed on the words falling into place. It was a great meet!!! She got FIRST on bars, and FIRST on vault!!!!! Her highest vault to date at 9.4!! She had a beautiful beam, until falling on her full turn, silly thing.

G.B. Yes, I have some finished songs and am excited to move forward again on the recording side. Yes, a cleared logjam, great way to put it! I’ve always loved the melody, chords and feel of this song, and now I can love SINGING it too! Good thing, for a singer. :)

Lynnie! Yep, I like the lyric so much, a Rukik’s Cube finally solved. I know on the photos, eh?? And the leo!!

    Now, to bed, I guess.

hi Dear Linda Bo Binda, who art also on FaceBook and so sweet there, thank you.

Actually….. the tempo is 94 bpm, on the slightly slower side, let’s picture the groove like, maybe “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2. Happy though, yes for sure! But more introspective and a lazy swaying style than a get on the floor and boogie your butt fast kind of beat. :) I think. :) I’ve now had 1 tall glass of wine for this cocktail hour, so don’t hold me 100% to anything I’ve just said about the tempo interpretation. :) xoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxo

The leotard it great, but her prowess at the splits puts it to shame so far that I hardly noticed it. What great lines! Both in the splits and in the song.

Don’t you love it when one or a few little thoughts opens up a whole piece?

Oh…that picture is stunning!!!! I loved the song very much and look forward to hearing it. Something you said really struck a chord with me about having to wait for the verses and how they starting writing themselves…This is one thing I love about writing. That moment where something clicks and suddenly, you can’t write fast enough. It a magic moment, isn’t it?

Kelly looks lovely in the pictures. I like the leotard. Then again, red is one of my favorite colors. But what really impressed me is that Kelly can do that with her leg. I can’t barely get mine above my waist and that’s with the knee bent:~( Anyway, it’s nice to see how well she’s doing and I thank you for including the picture with the results of the meet:~)

Alice Audrey. :) Yes, she’s been getting better and better at her Needle over the years. (Just for clarification, the bookstore pose is a slightly different move, as you probably realize.) Really flexible, though some days more than others. I’ve changed some lines a bit even since I posted this. :) May tweak just slightly yet. I do believe that feeling the lyric, rather than thinking it was the key! Let it find me, instead of searching for it, like most stuff in life!! :)

Yo SARA!!! Before I use more words… let me put in another photo from this meet…

    Accepting_Her_First_On_Vault_Medal

I love how I caught the exact moment she was receiving that gold medal (which actually was not as shiny as she’d dreamed of — but hey, it’s all good. Yeah, our gym is SO LUCKY to have one of the best sports photographers in the world take our pictures. And she’s the NICEST lady!! As to the needle, I can get my leg up to my shoulder (almost.)

This song really has had at least 5 versions since its appearance in 2011, with most of the original lines gone. And for me it’s got to tell a bit of a story. And YOU are great at writing stories, so talented!

Speaking of red, check this out… Great button, eh??!!!! NICE lady who runs that Healy site!

Hey Bri, I think this cd will be pretty cool! We’ll see what we hear. :) Some songs have fallen by the wayside, but I am glad I was able to make this one work. I plan to do a Youtube of me singing and playing soon, like when the roses start blooming again.

Dear Claudia, yes, she is pretty awesome indeed! I am going to look into one of those KickStarter music funding things, wherein I will basically beg for $$ to do my recording. I am a bit daunted, but the only “fail” is to not try, right?

Hi Jannie – I’ve been meaning to get here … perhaps with my new hip I’ll be able to ‘do the needle’ – do you think??? Mind have to lose a layer or two of the blubbery stuff first!!!!!! Not too much there – but definitely enough to make needling difficult?!

Kelly’s doing so well … brilliant news – and excellent photography.

Funny how things need to wait to fall into place sometimes … words, songs, art etc … and that’s good to read you feel your voice is getting stronger … and I sure hope the recording comes off in the Spring …

Big hugs from us over here … Hardwick’s around, but he’s hunkered down for now – unless at some stage he comes out for story telling anon … cheers Hilary

Hilary! You best be doing that Needle before your hip sets too much!!! :) :) :)

Blubber, I’ve got about 5lbs more on me than I had before winter solstice. :) That’s like, a bit under 3 kg? But… a person needs a little winter cushion! And I’ve made plans to start my exercise Happy Face Sticker Chart this coming Sunday!! Brand new month, fresh calendar page. Begin with 40 minutes a day, 4x weekly. 20 mins cardio, the rest small free weights, Jazzercise toning moves, and stretching!

Yeah, The Pea is having a wonderful gym season, 6 First Place medals, so far. I’ve also been posting about her meets on FB where I’ve been active again of late. I’ll check to see if you and I are friends there, saw you mentioned in a recent post about FB. Kelly also set me up an Instagram account last summer, which I have just recently learned to link my FB from, for simultaneous posting. On Insta I keep it on Private — friends there with only peeps I personally know. I would accept YOU, of course, even though we have not actually physically met! I feel safe on you, with all the snailmail and such between us! :)

Gymnastics!!! Skill by skill she does it, works hard, doesn’t give up, even though it is physically challenging, and a gymnast spends a lot of time expanding her comfort zone — reaching (literally) for new heights. Has the best coaches in the world, of course, wonderful team mates. She’s already got most of her skills for Level 8 beam and bars, just a skill away on each on both those, I hear. Onwards and upwards. She’ll have to keep learning her new vaults, eating well and getting lots of rest to keep up her stamina on floor, and in general. She is doing AWESOME, tho, yes!

And… just got a 100% on an Algebra test! So glad she has her Dad’s math brain!!!!!

Oh, but sweetie….. I think I have improved V2 even more since I tweaked that “final edit” above! [edit to comment… I have actually switched the last lines in V1 & V2 and added a new couplet to V2. I think the Rubik’s Cube is solved now!!] [ :) ] Just this morning, in fact. It’s fun, tho! This song became somewhat of a sculpture tucked in the back corner of a sunlit parlor somewhere, one I occasionally returned to, to add and subtract a little clay here and there. :) Hey, you know how long some of Brian Wilson’s songs took (take?) to write??!! :) Good Vibrations took, like 10 years??

You’re gonna love my new buttocks song!! Going to take “Everybody’s Buttocks Are Beautiful” to my songwriting circle buddies next week to see what they hear.

As to the song in THIS post finding its way, I think as life experiences have unfolded in the past year my thoughts worked their way into these verses and older lines I managed to keep now make better sense.

Yes, my singing VOICE! As I “work” on it less, it actually sounds better, if that makes any sense! :) Mostly a matter of relaxing the vocal apparatus, and knowing how to “breathe” right. Easy!!

Sending you a big word bouquet today in this for your table….. :)

Much love, baby the hip, read, do your awesome historical-creative art blogging and be nice to yourself. Let your body heal, for sure!

BB is taking a nice bubble bath. Cold here!! Please tell HW to send a story by tube…

And now… off to tweak that couplet, let it set, then see how I feel about it when I sing it in a day or so.

Then pick The Gymnast up from school and take her to gym, grocery shop… I also have to re-string my guitar and do the dishes!! :) Then, sweep and mop the floors, set up the good-used-free trampoline after I order the replacement pads and such for it, fold a LOT of laundry, figure out why the vacuum cleaner stopped working, find or take 2 good photos for 2 good blog posts, sort my tax papers on my desk, and more stuff… :)

The hardest part in receiving inspiration is keeping quiet long enough for it to get in.

I Liked a post on Tumblr the other day about writing. Something like, if you only write when inspiration hits you may become a decent poet, but it’s in the daily “working at it” that novels get done.

Yes, quiet the mind to listen to the soul speaking.

Hey, Gracie, I KNOW, she is so graceful, a perfect little swan. Yes, I guess I am just a teentsie tad proud of her, and it shows, right? :)

    Love IS the answer.

Luckily novels don’t need as much inspiration as poems or song lyrics. I can generally take one great idea and run with it for thousands of words.

    ps. Thanks for the button.

No, seriously! Not a lot of people on the planet can weave character and events into a long story that makes me want to keep on reading.
