New Blue Bikini (new song lyric by yours truly)

OPP (Other Peoples' Photography), Song Stuff, Songwriting | Posted by Jannie on 8 August 2015 @ 12:28 PM 40 Comments

The lyric has been revamped (again) :) since the below… (Edit: March 17th, 2016.)

(The lyric below reflects improvements from the original version posted here — thanks to feedback from my inspirational songwriting buddies.)

gonna laze at the pool in the shade where it’s cool
hearing ukulele music floating in the air
gonna stroll on the sand holding your hand
watching the sun wave good bye to the day
i love you so much and i’ll love you even more
when i’m walking with you on the honolulu shore, in my

new blue bikini
supercute swimming suit
wait ‘til you see me
in my new blue bikini

it fits so good in the places it should
hugging my curves like the ocean hugs the shore
it’s the color of the sky in early july
denim blue that sings to the twinkle in my eye
bought it on sale today for only ten bucks
brand new with tags, ooo — talk about luck, got a

new blue bikini
supercute swimming suit
wait ‘til you see me
in my new blue bikini

(12 awesome measures of scintillating instrumental here, maybe something even a-la-Jimmy-Buffet-esque.))

gonna catch a few rays, ‘n splash in the waves
where the dancing dolphins are laughing every day
gonna do as we please, just you and me
going on adventures that we’ve never had before
we’ve been working so hard but we’ll be playing soon
i’ll be smooching with you on our second honeymoon, in my

new blue bikini
supercute swimming suit
ooo wait ‘til you see me
in my new blue bikini

~~ end of lyric.

If you’re in Austin Tx on Tuesday, August 11th 2015, please join us at “Song Doctor” where I’ll be singing and playing guitar on this brand new song of mine, whooohoooo.

And if you’re not in Austin Tx on Tuesday, Aug. 11, where are you going to be / were you??

Hey, G.B. Firsty!! This October my GoFundMe for said CD will go live. So, expect to be hit up for $5 to $10 — at least!! :) As I separate my songs’ wheat from the chaff, I now have 10 good new ones written for the project, with the aim of 2 more. Success = flowing with the now!!!

Daisy, this song reminds me of your fun poem style. Yeah Tuesday! — what am I gonna WEAR??!!! My brown skirt? But with what top??!! And hey, did you know the protagonist in Neal Shusterman’s “Unwind” series is “The Akron Awol?!!” Kelly got me reading that series. Being a librarian you probably know said books. Awesome author!

    Now. Bring on de lunch!!

Hey, sweet Linda! That photo was taken by a chap by the name of Joel Mertens, found it on the Net. It’s SO gorgeous, eh? Hawaii is still in my future. :) It was a great performance, yes thanks!! And got some AWESOME feedback, going to start with the second verse (which will become the new verse 1) then the chorus, then verse 2 (the old verse 1) then chorus, bridge, chorus and out, whoohooo!! I LOVE how fellow songwriters always have ideas I never would’ve thought of. And I LOVE NC. Do you live near tall tall pines? I miss the pines of NC. And those of Nova Scotia. But enough pining about pines for today!! :)

Lynnie-Bo-Binnie!! Well, WalMart sells very inexpensive bikini components!!! I had no idea of their regular low, low prices on them, and on clothes for Kelly. I bought her like, 7 pairs of shorts and 7 tops this season, and only paid like, $55 TOTAL (including tax.) Yes, about $3.50 per garment for her!! The second-hand store we usually buy at couldn’t even beat that price. It was a really fun songtime last night, yes. And I know where you were!!! Because I know what kind of volunteer reading work you do!!

Hey, Snaggle! If you have a body and put a bikini on it, it automatically becomes a bikini body — no matter the shape or size. Hope you got to the beach! I know you’ve been so so so busy. Hope you can just take it easy.

Hey, Blue Grumpster!! And you get to meet BLUE Bunny, my “bloging manijir.” Great color indeed!! Welcome. Not sure what the scintillating break melody will be… no doubt will be conjured up on the studio on the fly.

Hey Dr. J!! I wasn’t planning on this turning into a Hawaiian tune, nor planning on the “love-twist” when this tune started out. I was just so excited about my new suit I couldn’t contain my joy which emerged in song. :) Quite upbeat too, at 152 beats per minute.

What a nice visit! Thank you so much for reading this week’s Suzie’s House.

Ethan is Emma’s father. He went for a little road trip when Emma and her brother James had a final falling out. He ended up living on the streets and trying to hitchhike back home. The gay couple he’s crashing with picked him up from the dumpster behind their pizzeria.

Gabriel is indeed the arc angle who blows a trumpet, among other things. Peter man’s the pearly gates. I’m not too serious about either allusion.

Alice!! I LOVED the Suzie’s write. And I could sense the room Peter and Gabriel (shock the monkey!!)had Ethan sleep in was and always would be inhabited by angels. Man, how does one end up in a dumpster in life?!!? Tho, thinking on it now, I did hop into one briefly once to procure some perfectly clean boxes from behind the liquor store at our nearest strip mall. When you take the cardboard dividers out of a 12-wine-bottle box, it’s a perfect size for shipping a pair of ski boots, RollerBlades or a motorcycle helmet ParcelSelect. :) You do have to then wrap the whole box to hide all the labels — USPS does not ship alcohol, or boxes saying alcohol. However, with a large self-seal white shipping bag, it wraps in 20 seconds!

And this is a wrap! :)

I’m telling you, now that people know I pun I’m being shown more of my own inner workings. I was listening to Peter Gabriel while writing the episodes, but hadn’t consciously named them after him.

I mostly ship costumes, so I just use the envelope without the box. Where do you get ones big enough to hold a whole 12 bottle box?

    On 5 November 2015 at 12:13 pm

    Jannie said,

Well, I buy all my self-seal shipping bags on eBay!! I used to have like, 9 sizes, but eventually I simplified it to 5, the 24″ by 24″ (which cover the wine oxes, I mean boxes — don’t even get me started about when oxen take to the drink, not a nice scene on the farm.) :) My smallest shipping bags are like, 6″ by 9″ good for a First Class Package rate, for something like a golf shirt, anything under 13 oz. Buying the bags in bulk saves $$ I probably average about 20 cents a shipping bag.

have a lovely day!!!!!! I’m off for an amazing lunch now of peanut butter on whole grain bread. And finally finish this second cup of joe. :)

20 cents is fantastic! I shelled 75 cents on each of the Tyvek envelopes I use for shipping everything. But one of them is big enough to hold a full size cape and a small poet shirt, so they pretty much cover me.

I’m tickled pink that you are willing to even try reading Suzie’s House now. It’s so time consuming. I hope it isn’t too confusing for you.

And you know all the USPS Priority shipping materials are FREE for you, right? You can even order them online, free home delivery. I especially like those Padded Flat Rate Envelopes, my eBay seller price to ship those is only $5.35. Nope, not really time-consuming to read good writing. I’m sure I’ll get Suzie’s House all sorted, will backtrack some… xoox

I love those free flat rate envelopes! I haven’t ordered the padded ones yet. How much can I stuff into one? I’m thinking something equivalent to a blanket. I shipped a cape in one of those cardboard deals a couple of days ago. It just barely passed as self-sticking right.

So, here’s a first for me, Alice! I go to reply to you and see I cannot. Past my 90 window to comment on a post. So… i just extended it to 120 days. :)

I’ve been more active on FB / Instagram than blogs lately.

Well, how much you can stuff into one depends on how strong you are and how much you weigh, plus how much time you might have to squeeze all the air out of the garment inside whilst stretching said envelope everso gently and slowly to fit said item. (The wonder of stretch plastic.) :) Into one of those padded flats I can generally get say, a womens’ size S to M puffy winter coat or shoes like, up to a women’s 9, men’s 7, WITH extra padding around the shoes… 1 pair of mens’ jeans. Big hoodie. 3 12-oz bottles of shampoo. 3 bars of solid 24K gold bullion. :)

LOVE those flat-rate boxes, for heavy stuff they can really rock!

I ALWAYS extra-tape, boxes AND envelopes. In fact… I’d once even gone so far as to take photos to accompany a poem-post here to shed light on the “Over-Tapers Anonymous” affliction, but later let the whim settle with the pine sawdust onto the editing room floor. :) :)

    What kind of a cape?
