Just Good Stuff, The Pea | Posted by Jannie on 11 September 2012 @ 2:10 AM

I commend that young lady in red, who only weeks ago cried her little heart out after a disappointing balance beam day.
But following utter devastation she got back on the beam, worked harder and…
this past Saturday won 4th at her first-ever gymnastics meet!!!

Ironically, I didn’t catch Miss Athlete #314’s beam score, but see her floor, vault and bars below…

Sooooo proud of her.
And during the 2-hour drive home she said… “Thanks, Mom for taking me all the way there, and for paying for my gymnastics, and everything.”
You’re welcome, Baby. You’re so welcome.

She was only 10 then.
And today ELEVEN!!!!!

Love, Mom

(Did that bun myself. So easy once you know how!)
Comments:

This morning I was up early festooning her old stroller with the bunting I made for her trike when she was 2.
We got to the park about 9:00.

Took a couple of kittehs along in case other families wanted kittehs too.
I think those 2 are both placed!

At 10:00 we paraders were ready to take flight down the street.

And we did!
Had a little problem with kitteh containment at first, but soon they settled down for the 10-minute ride.
Refreshments were yummy.

Greased watermelons were vied for by wrestlers.
Kelly did her best to hold her own in her age division, but a brawnier girl landed that melon to shore.

Now I’m home with her dad watching tv and she’s out with friends behind a boat on that thing.
She’ll get to watch the fireworks at the 360 Bridge tonight with said friends on said boat, here…

I’m happy for her.
And happy I’ll be spending a quiet evening in with her dad, ahhhhhhhhh.
Happy 4th y’all!!! Is it great to be free, or what!!????!!!

A lady once spent
six hours a day bloggin’
‘Til she got a day job
and lost half her noggin.
Somehow her Mothers’ Day
post fell behind.
Now it’s quite late.
She hopes you don’t mind?
So, who could all those
gals be way up there,
ladies with summertime
shine in their hair.
Mom’s on the far left,
the “baby” of the five.
So lucky these
ladies are all still alive!!
And healthy!
Photo was taken
almost ten years ago
outside Saint James’
one day without snow.
Speaking of James’es who
are saintly and such,
That’s mine in the middle,
him I love much.
No, he’s not perfect,
but Honey, who is?
Except for Christ Jesus
in the forgiveness biz.
But back to the story
of the sisters above,
Each of them mothers.
Each of them love.
They are in Canada
while we’re here in Texas.
Next year we might drive up
in an good pre-owned Lexus.
Or fly in the sky in
a seven thirty seven
back home to the land of
Tim Hortonly heaven.
As to Kelly’s Christening
that earlier sweet now,
as to the land where
I learned to milk cows,
the wee one in the photo
with her toes peeking out,
– let’s give that singing
little cutie a shout.
She co-starred in her
school musical last week,
the stow-away in “Pirates”
She was AMAZING. And sweet.

She made me a mother
for which I’m so grateful.
Thus concludes this poem
… only fifteen days lateful.
And because Jannie loves threes…

there’s one I just took of a notecard sketched by Carol Olson in 1976.
I’m guessing it depicts the town 100 years ago.
The big whole family Kelly’s Christening Day photo was taken in front of the church on the left.

Flash Fiction 55, The Pea | Posted by Jannie on 9 March 2012 @ 1:53 PM

You will wait some, yes,
in post offices, airports
and auto repair shops.
You will wait for phone calls,
tulips and checks in the mail.
You will wait for shows to begin.

You will wait and wait
for what seems forever
for babies, answers and
dolphins until suddenly
– there they are!
Within and around you.

That makes 55 words for The G-Man!
Write and post a 55-word fiction and let him know.
It’s a fun, 100% calorie-free adventure.
(Unless of course… you, as I, munch potato chips and swill beer while computering.)
Blessings to all!
Oh, that was in Galveston, TX this past summer, on a dolphin cruise boat. On a balmy 102 degree day.

Sooooo….. we were walkin’ in the hood and came upon this giant agave.

So nice, so nice. I photographed it twice.

And of course, I had to get crazy with the 3rd shot.
Now, Dearest Friends and Enablers…
I am off to package up 3 eBay auctions that sold — some of hubby’s model railroad stuff.
Yay, my auctions sold! My auctions sold!!
Then… I have photos to take of 6 more railroad things and get those listed.
Whooohooooooo, Jannie can now hire her bassist and drummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, I’m the luckiest person I know!!
Who’s the luckiest person YOU know? And why?
